Considering the film's subject matter and excessive usage of gore, Don't Go Near the Park! has quite a few moments that are nightmarish in nature.
- An unnamed hippie is exploring an old ranch with her pet dog, Starshine, when her foot gets caught in a bear trap (of all things!) that has been placed beneath a pile of hay. Patty approaches the screaming girl and offers to "help" her, but then pushes her to the ground, squeezes her stomach until she tears open the girl's organs, and the girl falls unconscious while Patty feeds on her liver.
- Bondi's father is indeed her biological father, but Bondi was conceived through an act of rape after Mark rented a room in a young woman's house and then forced himself on her. An attempted rape scene also occurs when Bondi hitchhikes with a group of rowdy construction workers and they begin to put their hands into her pants and rip at her clothing. Luckily, she escapes.
- Most of the victims of Patty and Mark's cannibalism are minor children who are abused/neglected and have run away from home. The only person who seems to care enough to get involved is a washed-up local reporter who becomes sort of a mentor and father figure for the kids (and he's perhaps the only kind and innocent adult in the entirety of the film).
