- Rian and Deet seem to be Expies of Jen and Kira. With Rian being The Hero and Deet who Speaks Fluent Animal.
- Brea and Deet seem to be Decomposite Characters of Kira, with the former having some similar facial features and hair color to Kira and the latter being a Friend to All Living Things like Kira.
- Doubles as a Development Gag: Aughra initially wears a yellow and blue dress adapted from unused Concept Art for the original, and the back symbol of it can be seen on the cover of The Dark Crystal: Creation Myths. Only when she's reborn after the Hunter's death is she given her red dress from the film.
