Woodpeckers from space.. He he he HE he!

VideoKids (also stylized as "Videokids") was a Dutch disco group that consisted of Peter Slaghuis and Bianca Bonelli. The music was created by Tony Acardi contrary to the belief that Peter and Bianca created the music, when in reality they only were arranged by Tony.

Their most famous songs are “Woodpeckers from Space”, and “Do the Rap”. These songs use the iconic character. They charted all over Europe and “Woodpeckers from Space” was used in the Pingu episode, "Pingu Looks After the Egg".

Hey! Hey man. Watch out! It's examples from space!

  • All There in the Manual: Zig-Zagged. Tico was never called this in the videos but there was a song named after him.
  • Bowdlerise: The band didn’t release “Woodpeckers from Space” in South Africa due to a political situation there, so a synthpop band, Cafe Society created a cover for the audience.
  • Friendly Enemy: Tico, the space pecker goes to a club with Peter and Bianca in the video for “Do the Rap” even though he tried to crash their spaceship in the video for “Woodpeckers from Space”.
  • Karma Houdini: Tico never faces consequences for nearly destroying the band’s spaceship in “Woodpeckers from Space”.
  • Left the Background Music On: In the video for “Do the Rap”, Tico slips on a record player accidentally, which stops the song. He laughs it off and suggests they play it again.
  • Location Song: “Hollywood” is about the band travelling to the movie studios in the district in Los Angeles.
  • Recycled Animation: In “Do the Rap” the animation of Tico drilling holes was visibly reused from the video for “Woodpeckers From Space”.
  • Roger Rabbit Effect: The two music videos for “Woodpeckers from Space” and “Do the Rap” feature the animated Tico alongside the live-action scenes with Peter and Bianca.
  • Short-Runner: They didn't last long as a group. This case is rather depressing as Peter and Bianca both died after this time in the 1980s.
  • That's All, Folks!: Tico says this word-for-wrord in the end of the video of "Do the Rap".
  • Writing Around Trademarks: Only the first half of Woody Woodpecker's laugh was used for Tico, who in itself was created to avoid being sued by Universal.
