Tropes that apply to this band:

  • Careful with That Axe: Used quite often in their music, however it is surprisingly melodic for an instance of this trope.
    • For example, "Burning In the Undertow of God" switches between quiet, almost mumbling lyrics and this.
Sense of MEEEEEEEEEE AAAAANNNNDDDD TIIIIMMMEEEE slips away
Could you meet before the LIIIIIIGHT BUUUUUUUUUURNS me ALIVEEEEEEEEEE
  • Epic Rocking: Most of their songs tend to be between 4-8 minutes. Particular examples include:
    • "The Promise of Snakes", from Weighing Souls with Sand, which lasts 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The second longest, "Dying in A-Minor", lasts 8 minutes.
    • Some versions of Weighing Souls with Sand have the bonus track "Sleepwritten", which lasts 11 minutes.
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: Downplayed. All of their releases have at least one track titled "Mouvement - (rest of song name)". For instance, Weighing Souls with Sand has "Mouvement - World Deafening Eclipse" and "Mouvement - The Smoke of Her Burning"
  • Indecipherable Lyrics: There's only 3 songs in their entire discography that have been transcribed by Genius. Even then, it's hard to figure out the lyrics without resorting to said transcriptions. This is probably due to the fact that the vocals are so drenched in reverb and drowned out by everything else that's it's hard to tell what's going on.
