The Algorithm is a French electronic metal project created by Rémi Gallego. Gallego is the only constant member of the band, with the other "members" being live musicians. The project has earned a level of acclaim over the internet for being a unique blending of different genres that are normally seen as mutually exclusive.

The Algorithm provides examples of:
- Everything Is an Instrument: He uses a laptop as his main instrument, the guitar is the secondary.
- Genre Mashup: Progressive Metal combined with Electronic Music. More specifically, elements of Mathcore and Djent with elements of Hardcore Techno, Trance, IDM, Breakbeat, and occasional Ambient. He even made a Vaporwave remix of "floating point".
- I Am the Band: Rémi Gallego is the only member, the others being live musicians.
- Instrumentals: The entire music is this, apart from Sampling.
- Nobody Loves the Bassist: In fact, there's no bass guitar (either by Rémi himself or his live collaborators) at all.
- Sampling: The only source of vocals is found in samples.
- Theme Naming: Computer science jargon. In addition, all of the song names on Octopus4 (with the exception of "ピタゴラスPYTHAGORAS") and Brute Force are in all lowercase letters.
