MYTH & ROID is a Japanese Pop Rock band founded in 2015. It has become known for performing the Anime Theme Song of a varied array of series.

The band debuted in 2015, founded by leading member Tom-H@ck and featuring Mayu (later known as Mayu Maeshima) as its vocalist. Its initial tenure said several successes in anime song, including endings and openings themes for Overlord (2012), BBK/BRNK, Re:Zero and The Saga of Tanya the Evil. After Maeshima's departure in November 2017, she was replaced by KIHOW, whose trademark voice gave a new phase to the band's works with the opening themes of Boogiepop Series and The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious. KIHOW would later diversify as a solo singer, although remaining as the band's vocalist.

Its music style can vary a lot between songs, going from evocative and trascendent to energetic and chirpy, but it often features strong electronics and resounding female vocals. The name comes from "myth" and "android", symbolizing an intention to mix past and future to create a new world (or something).

Discography

  • 2017: eYe's
  • 2020: Future is Mine

Their work contains examples of:

  • Rule of Symbolism: As mentioned above, the band's title expresses a desire to mix future and past, although what does this mean exactly is anybody's best guess.
  • Surreal Theme Tune: Sometimes, although often not as much as it looks by their aesthetic.
  • Trapped in Another World: Seems to be a tend for the band. Three of the four franchises featured in Isekai Quartet carry music themes by them.
  • Word Salad Title: Many if not all of their songs has random English words as their titles.
