Joe Scruggs is a retired singer and songwriter who is known for his children’s songs. His most famous one is “Wiggle in my Toe” which was featured on Barney & Friends and The David Letterman Show. His albums and live performances include Deep in the Jungle and Bahamas Pajamas in 1987.

He no longer creates or performs children's music, and lives with his wife and two kids in Austin, Texas.

Examples in Joe Scruggs’ music include:

  • And Call Him "George": In “Refrigerator Picture” Joe says that he called his alligator picture “Terrance” on the first day of school and showed it to his mom.
  • Baby Talk: “Goo Goo Ga Ga” is a song telling the story of a group of kids with a baby who uses this phrase to get them out of trouble from dangers they face, including a wicked witch.
  • Concert Episode: “Deep In The Jungle Live” is a feature-length video of his performance in Austin, Texas.
  • Not in Front of the Parrot!: Played With. During his performance of “Bahamas Pajamas” two parrot puppets accompany his singing while wearing ear muffs so they can’t repeat what he says. They instead come up with rhymes for his singing.
  • Ode to Food: His song, “Green Peas”
  • Ow, My Body Part!: The song “Wiggle in my Toe” is about him not being able to stop wiggling various body parts from his toe to his hair.
  • Vocal Dissonance: In “Talking Toy Box” the baby doll says "FEED ME!" In a deep, monstrous voice.
  • Word Salad Lyrics: The song “Bahamas Pajamas” is supposed to be about his love for a girl he meets there until the parrots sing nonsensical rhymes and words which bear no significance to his lyrics.
