In the year 2300, rock music is dying under the dominance of so-called digital music. One Cyborg rock guitarist named Ediee Ironbunny traveled back in time to 2018's Japan in order to change the future. After several street performances in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto (and another at a convention in California), he held an audition and formed a band with three young female vocalists.

IRONBUNNY was a Japanese Hard Rock band which debuted in March 2019. The band originally consisted of leader and lead guitarist Ediee Ironbunny and three vocalists: Hina, Kotono Ōmori (Kotono), and Minami Yamazoe (Minami). On August 8, 2020, Hina left the band due to an ear disorder, leaving the group with three members. This coupled with the COVID-19 Pandemic lead to them announcing their disbandment on September 5, 2021.

True to their tagline, "The Rock N' Roll Institute", the band also produced rock history edutainment content broadcast on the Nippon Cultural Broadcasting radio station and their YouTube channel.

Discography:

  • IRONBUNNY ~Iron Hummer Alternative~ (mini-album, 2019)
  • Infinite Mirror (single, 2019)
  • Black is The New Innocence, One, Respect (singles, 2020)

These tropes are rising above the space-time:

  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Ediee claims to be a cyborg from the future who traveled back in time to save rock music, but his guitar playing is very legit. His armor even literally has bunny ears, to fit his name.
  • Call a Smeerp a "Rabbit": In our time, the term "digital music" refers to music production (synthesizers, digital mixing, digital mastering) and storage and distribution methods (CD, audio files, streaming), which is also used for rock music. In the 24th century, it's a genre that would nearly wipe out rock music.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Usually, but not always, Hina wears red, Minami wears blue, and Kotono wears green.
  • Cyborg: Ediee willingly became a cyborg so he can Time Travel to our time.
  • Dreadlock Warrior: Ediee's armor has lights hanging from the back of his helmet that resemble dreadlocks.
  • Edutainment Show: They have a few of these, such as talk shows and classic rock and metal album reviews by the vocalists.
  • Elective Unintelligible: Ediee only communicates using guitar strums in person, which necessitates a Translator Buddy.
  • Engrish: Their first mini-album is titled IRONBUNNY~鉄槌のオルタナティブ~ , officially transliterated as IRONBUNNY ~Iron Hummer Alternative~. Actually, 鉄槌 means "iron hammer", so it should be "Iron Hammer Alternative". The trio's English pronunciation in the album is also often unintelligible, but has become much better by the time of their disbandment.
  • Gratuitous English: Most of the songs have English titles and lyric parts. The pronunciation has also gotten better after the first mini-album.
  • "I Am" Song: "E.I.B." is the story of Ediee Ironbunny.
  • Idol Singer: Minami is formerly of the idol group FAREWELL, MY Luv.
  • My Nayme Is: Ediee. The pronunciation is the same as "Eddie".
  • Newspaper Dating: The "23 -twenty three-" MV depicts Ediee's arrival in 21st century Tokyo and includes this scene. Although it's set in Japan, the first person to see him is a homeless black man.
  • Only One Name: Even as a student at the Voice music school in Tokyo, Hina has always gone by one name, and it's always written in alphabet. The other two vocalists are addressed the same way in this group, but their full names are already publicly known through their previous affiliations.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Ediee's mission is to prevent rock music's demise in the year 2300.
  • 24-Hour Armor: Ediee is never seen outside his armor. It's said that most of his body has been cyborgized except for parts necessary for playing the guitar, such as his hands.
  • Vlog Series: They have several on their YouTube channel, such as Ediee's Room (Ediee no Heya) and Rock, Rocker, Rockest.
  • Vocal Tag Team: The three vocalists harmonize most of the songs.
  • Voice Actor: Ediee's voice is provided by none other than Showtaro Morikubo, who is also his Translator Buddy in public appearances.
