And now the world outside
Don't look the same for you and me
Drinking cider in a golf course
Just a distant memory
Down the park and pick a fight
Popping pills all through the night
Fucking waster I suppose
That's the way the water flows
— "Sometimes"

Gerry Cinnamon (real name Gerald Crosbie) is a Scottish singer and songwriter. He started his career in 2005 but didn't release his debut album until 2017.

Discography

  • Erratic Cinematic (2017)
  • The Bonny (2020)

Where we're going these tropes don't matter:

  • Drugs Are Bad: In "Sometimes", he sings about how he used to do cocaine when he was younger and how it made him go on a "false ego trip" and beat people up, now viewing it as a "fucking waster".
  • Face on the Cover: The cover of "Erratic Cinematic" is a monochrome picture of his face putting a finger on his chin.
  • Lyrical Dissonance: "Sometimes" is quite upbeat for a song about Gerry singing about his cocaine addiction when he was younger.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: In "Sometimes".
    Sometimes, just sometimes
Well alright, maybe all of the time
  • Music Is Politics: He encourages smaller artists to believe in themselves and isn't fond of music industry marketing and excessive hyping artists.
  • Protest Song: "War TV" is one against War, complete with recorded quotes from David Cameron and mentioning Animal Farm.
  • Self-Deprecation: He claims he isn't the type of person to be lecturing on life in "Sometimes".
  • Shout-Out:
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: His songs tend to be quite foul-mouthed, notably "Where We're Going".

You know it could be a canter
If you were just a wee bit less of a wanker
More than half ae' the time
