EXO-CBX provides examples of the following tropes:
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Baekhyun is blue, Chen is green, and Xiumin is red.
- Fun with Acronyms: EXO-CBX, which stands for Chen Baekhyun Xiumin (ChenBaekXi for short).
- Older Than They Look: Xiumin is the oldest member.
- Otaku: Known as the Otaku trio within EXO. They even throw around Anime lines during their concerts and TV appearances.
- Power Trio: Notable for being the three EXO members with the highest vocal range.
- Singer Name Drop: "Everbody say CBX!" in the song appropriately named CBX.
- Stock Sound Effects: All over the place in Ka-CHING!
- Theme Naming: The songs on "Blooming Days" are themed after the seven days of the week.
- Monday Blues represents, what else, Monday.
- Blooming Day represents Tuesday.
- Sweet Dreams! represents Wednesday; the song's Korean title translates to "Wednesday's Meeting."
- Thursday represents Thursday.
- Vroom Vroom represents Friday.
- Play Date represents Saturday.
- Lazy represents Sunday; like Sweet Dreams!, the song's Korean title translates to a day of the week, namely Sunday.
- Translated Cover Version: Hey Mama! and Ka-CHING! have Korean and Japanese versions, though only the Korean concert version of Ka-CHING! was released.
- Wholesome Crossdresser: Baekhyun dressed as a girl in The One music video, to play the role of a love interest for Chen, Xiumin and himself at once.
