Compilations:

  • The Remixes (2006-2010)

Tropes:

  • Addiction Song: "Codeine Eyes."
  • Angrish: Their singing/shouting can come off as this, since the way they mix their voice often makes it difficult to make out what they're saying.
  • Broken Record: Fond of using eerie repetitive vocal samples, such as one of Katy Perry on "PSA" or at the beginning of "Youth Problem."
The vultures are waiting to pick your bones... the vultures are waiting to pick your bones... the vultures are waiting to pick your bones...
  • Caps Lock: Stylizes their titles like this occasionally.
  • Loudness War: You might wanna turn your volume down.
  • Numbered Sequels: "Suite ONE" and "Suite TWO." Averted for Grudge2, since there is no Grudge1.
  • Remix Album: The Remixes is a compilation of remixes by them circa 2006 to 2010, remixing artists like Deerhunter, Crystal Castles, and even Lady Gaga, though many of the remixes are so distorted and noisy you probably wouldn't be able to tell what the original song even was.
  • Sensory Abuse: In their music and their live performances.
  • Shout-Out: The album Another Country is a reference to the book of the same name by James Baldwin.
  • Soprano and Gravel: On "Youth Problem," Dreamcrusher's deep gravelly shouting contrasts with Alice Glass's higher pitched scream-singing.
  • Straw Nihilist: Considers themselves one.
  • Two Fer Token Minority: Black and queer. Not usually a trope that applies to real people, but they stand out in a scene that tends to be very straight-white-male dominated.
