This composer provides examples of the following tropes:
- Associated Composer: For Jon Amiel, Sam Raimi, and Curtis Hanson.
- Foreign Re-Score: When New World Pictures bought the distribution rights to Def-Con 4, Young was asked to write a new score intended to make the film seem expansive than it actually was. New World later used some of Young's music in The Return of Godzilla.
- Re-Release Soundtrack: On the VHS release of A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge, tracked-in music from Young's score replaces Bing Crosby's version of "Did You Ever See A Dream Walking?" over the end credits.
