There's death in her room.

Bertine Zetlitz is a Norwegian musician. Born in 1975, she worked for the after-school television show Midt i Smørøyet as a teenager, and started recording music in her early twenties.

Discography:

  • Morbid Latenight Show
  • Beautiful So Far
  • Sweet Injections
  • Rollerskating
  • My Italian Greyhound
  • Electric Feet
  • Tikamp

Her work contains examples of:

  • Alpha Bitch: "Adore Me" is about a girl named Bobbie who gets bullied by the other girls, including the narrator.
  • Arc Number: 10. For her last album, Tikamp, which is Norwegian for "decathlon", and contains exactly ten tracks.
  • Call-Back: "Ah-Ah" from Rollerskating references "Twisted Little Star" from Sweet Injections.
All my little twisted stars will twinkle just for fun
  • Captain Obvious: Zetlitz has said in interviews that the line "some of us cannot imagine having fun without it" makes it pretty clear that the song "Ah-Ah" is about sex.
  • Hurricane of Aphorisms:
    • "Hoppetau" ("jumping rope") from Tikamp has lyrics made entirely of this.
    • "Smil" ("smile") from the same album also has a lot of these.
  • Intercourse with You:
    • "Ah-Ah" according to herself.
    • "Rollerskating", unless you're really that into rollerskating.
  • Love Floats: Referenced in both "Brukne Spyd" ("broken spears") and "Så sier vi det sånn" (an expression of agreeing to compromise). In the latter she feels that she is floating on liquid gold.
  • Malaproper: Seems generally okay with making up her own English expressions. One especially egregious example is the use of "warlocks" as "locks of hair" in "Death In Her Room".
  • Manipulative Bastard: Many a female character in her songs are manipulative bitches, such as the eponymous character in "Candy".
  • Pun: Getting literal in a nightmare fueled kind of way is her MO, like in "Wrap Me 'Round Your Finger".
Drape me 'round your shoulders, I'll bleed right through.
  • Sugary Malice: The eponymous Candy is incredibly passive-aggressive. Her MO is making you feel bad because she thinks so highly of you.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Didactic?: Invoked by herself in interviews, where she has explained that "Fake Your Beauty" came about because it rhymes with "shake your booty", a phrase which was popular to include in songs at the time. Most people assume it's a commentary on excessive cosmetic surgery, especially given the references to nudity and the rest of the chorus:
    Fake your beauty
    Fool him slightly
    Doors locked tightly
