The whole franchise in general
- The Toei quarry ExplanationMt. Iwafune has become infamous for being the main filming location for many big-scale fight scenes in Toei tokusatsu productions, gaining this nickname from fans.
- The Toku-to-BL pipeline ExplanationFans quickly noticed that a large amount of tokusatsu actors go on to work on a BL drama after their series has ended. It has become such a reoccurring trend that fans often anticipate who's the next actor on said pipeline.
By series
Ninja Sentai Kakuranger
- American Ninja ExplanationTaken from episode 3 where Jiraya, dressed as a cowboy and riding roller skates, pulls out an actual gun and shoots the other members of the team to protect the Monster of the Week, twirling his gun as the title card shows ‘American Ninja’ over his face
- "Today is Friday in California." ExplanationA scene from episode 46 where Saizou got taken to the emergency room and he finds a police officer (who is actually a manga-themed Monster of the Week) waking up from a surgery table next to him and spouting out the line in English before he shoots him, much to his confusion. Though it seems to be a subbing error from a fansub and the correct lines are "Today is (a) fine day in California." This ends up being used on social media when It's now Friday in California.
Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger
- The unusually tall height of the team's male members (all four of them are over 180 cm) has led to Japanese memes about the series truly being "Deka"ranger (the joke being that dekai is the Japanese word for "tall" in this context).
Mahou Sentai Magiranger
- "Oh man, it's◊ our◊ idiot◊."ExplanationThe scene in the first episode where the Ozu family is shocked at Kai's reckless antics has become quite a Draw The Squad meme for various fandoms. In fact, a Tumblr post about it reached more than 45k notes, and it's common for people to draw the meme without realizing where the scene originates from. It later gained a new life as an exploitable meme starting from 2021.
- Because Tsubasa's actor Hiroya Matsumoto had dance experience in high school, Tsubasa's dancing in the ending sequence sticks out so much that Japanese fans have nicknamed it "yellow hips" (kiiro no koshi). After Matsumoto returned for later series Tokumei Sentai Go Busters and Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, the memes returned in full force whenever he joined in for their own dances.
- Kai's character song "Courage is a Phoenix" reached meme levels from his singing being clumsy to the point it rolls all the way into charming, especially given how the very in-your-face and honest nature fits Kai's character. The song is often joked as being "seriously red" (maji akai) from its lyrics constantly repeating it to the extent it would be Narm if it weren't for it being so endearingly in-character.
GoGo Sentai Boukenger
- Let's just say Masumi is better remembered by his crooked teeth than by his actions.
Engine Sentai Go-onger
- In Japan, pictures/videos of Gunpei (or characters imitating his "Dash Dynamic!" pose) are almost unfailingly responded to with "Kakkosugiru ze..."note "Too cool..." in reference to Gunpei's final words to Gunpherd in GP Final.
Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
- Ever since Kaoru adopted Takeru, fan artists have become very fond of making ridiculous scenes of her trying to act like a mother. (One had her attempt to give Takeru a bath. Another had her trying to play matchmaker. One fan had Kaoru introducing Takeru to Captain Marvelous, and Marvelous's reaction is just what you'd expect).
Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger
- "Hade ni ikuze!" ExplanationThe Catchphrase of Captain Marvelous ("Let's make it showy!").
- Someone's got◊ a bun in◊ the oven...◊
- GODDAMMIT GREEN, GET IT TOGETHER!
- This beauty known as the Captain Marvelous Troll Face◊.
- Captain Marvelous is increasingly becoming more and more of a Memetic Badass as the series goes on. And the bar was already set pretty high to begin with.◊
- Just the Legend War scene is drawing a lot of attention from the internet, even with Power Rangers fans not familiar with all the Super Sentai involved.
"Someone invent a time machine so I can high five my 8-year-old self." — CollegeHumor
- Ever since Sousuke joked about it at the end of #36, Gokai Fire is slowly but surely reaching this status.
- It's recently been a Running Gag in several otaku forums that the release of Superhero Taisen will be the cause of the end of the world predicted in the Maya Calendar.
- "Finally, a useful upgrade form"ExplanationTokusatsu fans are often disappointed about Ultimate Shining Zero and Decade Complete 21 being utterly useless, the former having a heavy strain on Zero's body due to how much power it uses, while the latter was criticized for having a ugly design along with being unable to even land any solid hit to a much weaker version of Ohma Zi-O. Gokaigers' Cross Armor Mode and in extension, Galleon Armor Mode, on the other hand, manages to be very useful in battle, allowing Gokaigers to deliver a Curbstomp Battle. Fans have joked about Gokaigers (especially Marvelous) asserting their dominance of better power-ups towards Ultraman Zero and Kamen Rider Decade.
Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters
- Two episodes in and there's already a tally running to count how many times the Go-Busters throw their glasses aside.
- Go-Buster Ace dancing.
- When it was revealed that Enter put the 13th Messiah Card in Hiromu and used it to back himself up, many people commented that "Hiromu is a Horcrux!"
- "It's time for ______ Buster!" seems to be getting this status.
Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger
- Nobuharu's puns are rapidly earning this reputation. Expect /m/ and other Rider discussion places to react to bad puns with "NOSSAN!" much like Carlos in The Magic School Bus.
- /m/ has actually placed Nossan in the Triforce of Puns, alongside Carlos and Ultros.
- Sing and Dance with us after the commercials! ExplanationEvery episode, even the Wham Episodes, ended with this message, telling kids to stick around for the ending dance. People have since placed the message onto Toku episodes with major downer endings for the ultimate Mood Whiplash.
Ressha Sentai ToQger
Shuriken Sentai Ninninger
- "MOETE KITA!" ExplanationThe Catchphrase of Takaharu Igasaki ("I'M FIRED UP!").
- Pasting Starninger's selfie pose on top of other images.
Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger
- ZyuohKing being referred to as the "Minecraft Megazord".
- Ever since it was discovered that the Sixth Ranger's title was TheWorldnoteZa Warudo, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure jokes were inevitable.
- Bud's previous role (Masato Kusaka from Kamen Rider 555) has caused him to be characterized as a person who sows discord in the fandom as well. And as of #46 it played off so damn well.
- Yamato has a tendency to be beaten up, be it physically or mentally, but near the end it was not uncommon for him to somehow get beaten up badly enough to either draw blood or need a bandaid, even if his other teammates were just fine, almost every other episode. This was even taken up to eleven in the summer movie, where his friends just had a bit of dirt on them after being kidnapped and hit with lightning, while he was bloodied up extremely badly. And if it wasn't that, he was experiencing some sort of serious mental trauma, like watching his team die in front of him. This has lead to some jokes about how the make-up department or someone on the writing team must've had a fetish for seeing the actor in pain or bloodied up.
Uchu Sentai Kyuranger
- "YOSSHA LUCKY!" ExplanationThe Catchphrase of Lucky ("Talk about lucky!").
- Kyu Kyu Tama, Tama Tama Kyu Kyu! (while air humping) ExplanationThe ending dance is as bizarre as it is catchy.
Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger
- "ONORE LUPINRANGER!" ExplanationThe Catchphrase of Keiichiro Asaka ("Damn you, Lupinranger!"), yelled in the same way as Narutaki's "ONORE DIKEIDO!"
- “Fushidarana!”ExplanationA not-uncommon meme in the Japanese fandom and another quote courtesy of Keiichiro, from when he and Tsukasa chastise Sakuya for being a shameless playboy in #7. (“Slutty!”)
- "Eat Salmon on Christmas!" ExplanationEpisode 45's Gangler wants to force people to eat salmon instead of chicken on Christmas. This proceeded to become not just a meme in the Japanese tokusatsu fanbase, but also the real world Japanese food industries who began to push salmon as a valid alternative to chicken starting in the 2019 holiday season, with the Twitter account of Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries coining the hashtag #SalmonDeChristmas in 2021.
Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger
- Gaisoulg's reveal also made some fans comparing his armor with Goblin Slayer's.
- Bamba murder ExplanationA few streams for Ryusoulger show a few comments about how Bamba has been known to suggest killing Minosaur victims as his solution to killing the Minosaur itself. He finally gets to do it the times the victim was just a box or a rock, though the rock was important to the week's guest star, so no one was happy with him for that.
- The ending dance.
- Tyramigo's deliberate mispronunciation of Melto's name extends to the fandom, causing him to often be referred to as Salt/Malt/Naruto/etc.
- Mind WiperExplanationAfter Koh escorts Ui outside of the Ryusoul Tribe's forest home, he then states that he has to erase her memories to uphold their Hidden Elf Village status, upon which he pulls out a hammer labeled thus.
Mashin Sentai Kiramager
- The moment the team's mentor was revealed to be portrayed by Daimaou "Piko-taro" Kousaka, PPAP jokes spread quickly. Became an Ascended Meme when Hakataminami did the dance in The Movie.
- Before much was revealed about the show, may suggested getting Taiko Katono (who played Mashin Chaser in Kamen Rider Drive) involved in the show. The actor even said he'd be up for being the show's sixth ranger.
- With the reveal that one of the series' themes would be gemstones, many comparisons have been made to Steven Universe.
- Tametomo being revealed as a pro gamer/e-sports player led to several jokes about him promoting the mobile game Raid: Shadow Legends.
- "Kiramager is a Pretty Cure season/Go! Kiramai PreCure."ExplanationFans have noticed from the beginning that this season’s motifs and themes bear more than the usual amount of similarities to Sentai’s sister franchise, with Juuru especially having a personality and catchphrase more reminiscent of the archetypical Pink Cure than the archetypical Red Ranger, particularly that of Hikaru Hoshina/Cure Star Amusingly, Juuru actually calls Star 'senpai' in the movie her team makes a cameo in, though that has more to do with them both being Toei heroes.
- Gamer oppression.ExplanationWhat fans refer to every time Tametomo is a Butt-Monkey of sorts such as Episode 1 with Juru not knowing him at first and making Shovellow an excavator, Episode 8 where Juru criticizes his art style, to even the first promo of the opening and ending themes' CD released where the others cut right in front of him in the advertising. Even the show has acknowledged this by giving him a few Throw the Dog a Bone moments... until episode 25.
- "Sounds weird, don't it?"ExplanationOne of Shiguru's quotes in one of his interviews, to the point where the others poke fun at him by repeating those words, to his humiliation in #3. The Stinger of said episode has Jetter doing the exact same thing. The line even appears as part of the lyrics in his Image Song.
- King Express having Smog Jouki's T-rex head for the right arm and the chainsaw tail for the left arm has spawned many comparisons to Megatron from Beast Wars.
- Many jokes have spawned about Kamen Rider Specter going Knight Templar Big Brother on Takamichi, following the latter's kissing scene (on the cheek mind you) with Sayo in #12. This also happens again during the airing of #32, as Sayo goes on a date with Yujin. ExplanationSayo's actress previously played Specter's sister, Kanon, in Kamen Rider Ghost.
- "Juru is just a ToQger in the wrong season." ExplanationJuru's ability to make his drawings come to life, along with his excitable, not to mention adorable personality, and the whole entire concept of "Kiramentality" led to some ToQger comparisons. What makes this even funnier is that the MOTW in #14 was steam locomotive-themed, which naturally led to many ToQger references.
- #ReturnSuperSentaiToTheKidsExplainationJapan's Weekly Playboy Magazine (no relation to the American Playboy magazine) released an issue featuring both a completely SFW photoshoot for Sena Hayami (the character herself) and a separate gravure photoshoot for her actress Yume Shinjo, sparking Contractual Purity controversy over Super Sentai's increasing focus on appealing to the adult Periphery Demographic, resulting in parents and other adults trending the aforementioned hashtag on Twitter in order to appeal for the franchise (and tokusatsu in general) to refocus on being made only for kids. This incident naturally became a subject of mockery from fans and Tokusatsu actors alike.
- "Oradin is a deadbeat dad."Explanation#29 has Oradin being resurrected as a Mashin; after they defeat the Jamen Beast, he simply takes off without so much as a hello to Takamichi and Mabushina, resulting in jokes about Oradin giving his children abandonment issues. It also does not help that he seems to openly favor Juru over them.
- Mach simping.ExplanationDue to the amount of times that Mashin Mach has (overtly) admired Sena, namely from being in her body in #19 to his Green-Eyed Monster moment in #27, his fascination of her while stuck paused like a mannequin, to her and the others' chagrin in #30, and even when she was acting like a cat in #41.
- "Never trust anyone named Kusaka."Explanation#32 introduces a character named Kusaka who turns out to be working for Yodonheim.
Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger
- When the first images were leaked, the first three memes started rolling:
- "Zenkaiger is a Kamen Rider season/Kamen Rider Zenkai."ExplanationUpon the reveal, many fans noticed Zenkaizer's similarity to Showa-era Rider designs—notably the large eyes and antenna—as well as the Heisei era's Kamen Rider Mach's color scheme. This, coupled with the rangers being a quartet of robot buddies, on top of the team being Phlebotinum Rebels due to using the same technology as the villains, has lead many to dub this Sentai's take on a Rider series, much like how Kamen Rider Saber has been called a Kamen Rider take on Super Sentai.
- "Zenkaiger is a Metal Heroes season." ExplanationSame reasons as above, but with specific comparisons drawn to the cute robots of B-Robo Kabutack and Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack.
- Comparisons to Kamen Rider Den-O are also made as a joke, due to having a human with non-human partners that are color-coded.
- It didn't help that the show was made by Shinichiro Shirakura, who mostly works on Kamen Rider, including having worked on Kamen Rider Den-O and Kamen Rider Kiva, both of which feature a group of color-coded non-human supporting characters. Not to mention he had developed a reputation for not caring about Super Sentai.
- As soon as Yuki Kaji was announced to voice Gaon, many jumped at the chance to make Attack on Titan jokes; specifically how it's rather eerie for him to voice a character that grows giant to fight equally giant bad guys much like Eren, amongst other things.
- Twokaizer was instantly dubbed "Gokai Gold" upon his reveal. In fact, Gokai Gold got trending on Twitter instead of Twokaizer.
- Ever since Cutanner and Ricky were first revealed, everyone's been making SD Gundam jokes about them due to their designs. These jokes only got pushed harder when it was revealed that the reason they look like that is because of an incident in a world literally named SDtopia having turned them into those forms.
- Fans latched onto Zocks's "Yohohoi!" catchphrase to the point where it became a nickname for the character and it caught on really quick. It got so bad to the point that Atsuki Mashiko made a video on Twitter to remind them to call Zocks by his actual name. Not that it stopped Kiita Komagine in any way.
Kiita Komagine: Yoho... hoi?
Atsuki Mashiko: It's Zocks!!
- The scene in #32 where Stacy shows the pictures of Gomi Wald and Recycle Wald side-by-side and asks the Zenkaigers to identify the first (along with the Zenkaigers' reactions) has spawned comparisons to the "Corporate asks you to find the difference" meme.
- "When did Zenkaiger become a JRPG?"Explanation (spoiler)The final fight of Zenkaiger consists of Kaito fighting God, a stark contrast to how the series started out. Comparisons to games such as Shin Megami Tensei have arisen.
Avataro Sentai Donbrothers
- Kamen Rider Den-O 2!ExplanationOnce again, a tokusatsu series by Toei is about the legend of Momotarō. Because of this, it's jokingly claimed that this series is a sequel to Den-O, not unlike how Zenkaiger is a Kamen Rider series. It probably helps that there was a series of shorts involving a crossover with them as well.
- Peak Inoue.ExplanationWith the series being written by the infamous Toshiki Inoue, fans are quick to pick out anything that was prevalent in his previous works. The Love Triangle of Miho, Tsuyoshi, and Tsubasa was especially a victim of this.
- InuBrother is a Sonic the Hedgehog characterExplanationThe proportions of InuBrother's CG model have led fans to joke about how similar he looks to characters from the Sonic video game series, more often Shadow and the Sonic Forces default avatar.
- KijiBrother is Slenderman.ExplanationFor similar reasons to InuBrother above, fans have joked about how KijiBrother's lanky CGI design makes him look similar to Slenderman.
- Bully Kaito ExplanationThe reveal of Kaito Goshikida as Zenkaizer Black, complete with his civilian identity being seemingly more serious than his original self, has led to fans associating him with the "Bully Maguire" meme.
- With the reveal of the Noto, fans compared the trio to the Dark Giants due to concidentally resembling their color schemes and designs rather than the throwbacks that they're meant to reference.
- Due to both shows featuring a meek, lanky avian and an ornery, short canid, comparisons between Donbrothers and Regular Show arose to the point of fanart depicting Mordecai and Rigby as Kiji Brother and Inu Brother respectively, or vice versa.
- Yandere KijiBro ExplanationTsuyoshi's extreme devotion to his wife leading him to disrupting Don Momotaro's finisher, allowing Sonoi to kill Mashin-Ki has led to fans comparing him to a yandere.
- KijiBro Micchi Explanation(spoilers)The mere fact he said on his inner monologue that he'll do anything to protect his wife, even betray anything and anyone, makes him getting compared with Mitsuzane aka Kamen Rider Ryugen for saying pretty much the same thing at the moment of his Sanity Slippage / Face–Heel Turn.
- NTR Explanation (SPOILERS)The effective logical extreme of this above memes, which began when #34 has Tsuyoshi rat Tsubasa out to the police when he sees him near Miho (an amnesiac Natsumi). Due to the similarities of the common plot points of the infamous NTR genre, many joke that Tsuyoshi is turning Tsubasa into a cuckold by being a yandere for Miho/Natsumi.
- Tsuyoshi is Kaixa. Explanation (SPOILERS)Fans were quick to compare the Slasher Smile Tsuyoshi makes when he gets Tsubasa arrested to that of fellow Yandere Masato Kusaka/Kamen Rider Kaixa. That both Donbrothers and 555 are written by Toshiki Inoue just strengthens the connection. Topping it off, Masato Kusaka's actor Kohei Murakami comments on it here, basically giving his approval.
- In episode 37 and 38, Tsuyoshi has a Creepy Doll as a Replacement Goldfish for Miho, leading to comparisons with Kiyoto Maki, whose Berserk Button being anyone trying to touch his doll.
- "Everyone is a psychopath except for Kaito." ExplanationFans on Twitter tend to make fun of how much of a Dysfunction Junction the Donbrothers are, especially after episode 8's infamous ending.
- Australian Jiro ExplanationWhen Jiro was added to the opening sequence in episode 16, fans quickly took note of how he was added upside-down, alluding to the "Upside-down Australia" meme. Comparisons to Claude from Fire Emblem: Three Houses followed as well.
- "The theater kid is the only normal one!" ExplanationFans have made light of the fact that by virtue of being largely detached from the team's shenanigans, Tsubasa becomes the Only Sane Man by default, even as #17 revealed he had a background as a member of an acting troupe and proved to be Not So Above It All.
- Unhinged delivery man assaults defenseless child. ExplanationA viral clip of a parade float featuring Don Momotaro crashing into one of Anya Forger. Fans were quick to jump on this and declared Taro attacking Anya, a six-year-old, as entirely in-character, and even editing in his Signature Laugh. To add to the hilarity, Morisaki Win (the singer of Donbrothers opening and ending) was cast as Loid Forger in SpyXFamily's stage play. All of this, complete with the hashtag #DonbrothersSWEEP, if this meme gets mentioned.
- "25 points." ExplanationThe way Tarou often gives out low score to things he deems not up to his standards, such as Haruka's beef stroganoff, or Kira Kilala's performance; has lead to fans similarly giving out that score to anything that's not good. And after #34, "32 points" is also rising up in popularity.
- Giraffe Sonoi ExplanationThe preview for #41 shows the Nōto trio in Santa outfits, with Sonoi's neck in particular looking rather long in it. This led to comparisons with Alata from Goseiger, who had a similarly prominent neck.
- Episode 40's subplot involving Haruka's driving lessons is compared to SpongeBob SquarePants' various, yet hilariously failed attempts to pass boating school where it ends with Mrs. Puff getting injured or arrested for traffic violations SpongeBob is held responsible for. Here, Haruka managed to cause her first two instructors to get injured and was able to get her license after using the driving school car to run over Don Murasame.
- Haruka Maldonado ExplanationHaruka's insane driving in the same episode draw comparisons to certain Formula One drivers who have this mentality, namely former driver Pastor Maldonado, who is infamous for the number of accidents he caused during his tenure from 2011 to 2015, hence his Fan Nickname "Crashtor" Maldonado.
- With Momotarō-themed DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet being announced just days after the Donbrothers finale, fans inevitably began making comparisons between the two, especially after the legendaries were revealed to match the genders of what their Sentai counterparts are.
Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger
- "King-Ohger is if Kamen Riders Kabuto and Saber had a love child and it became a Sentai."ExplanationLike Zenkaiger before it, upon its reveal many comparisons were made between the series and the two Kamen Rider series, which — respectively — also had a predominantly insect theme (including the two Japanese Beetle Brothers, a dragonfly, and a bee/wasp) and its heroes using Cool Swords as their Transformation Trinkets (with one of them, Sabela, even having an insect motif).
- Upon the reveal of the OhgerCalibur, many comparisons have been made between it and the Perfect Zecter.
- #4 has a scene where God Kuwagata and God Kabuto actually hug; jokes about Tendou and Kagami's "manly heated drama" ensued.
- Gary has become a ZordExplanationOne of the Guardian Weapon series' mecha is a snail, sparking jokes about how Gary Took a Level in Badass.
- Kittan Henshin SwordExplanationVarious jokes about Kittan were made after it was announced that the OhgerCalibur — the series' Transformation Trinket — would be voiced by Kishow Taniyama.
- Attack on BognaarokExplanationThe very first episode features a scene where giant Bognaarok soldiers attack Shugoddam, which is a walled quasi-medieval city; fans immediately drew comparisons to Attack on Titan's first chapter.
- Gira's expressions upon seeing Racules drop the mask and his switching to "King of Evil" mode in episode 1 have been made into a "No-Yes/Drake Blank"-type meme.
- Bop-It SwordExplanationDue to the several switches that need to be flipped to activate the Ohger Calibur, fans have drawn comparisons between the sword and similar items, usually a Bop-It
- "They unKinged my Ohgers." ExplanationUpon seeing episode 0's thumbnail of the "Toei Tokusatsu Action Club", many were flabbergasted at how utterly normal the King-Ohger cast looks outside of the costumes and wigs.
- Due to the series sharing a theme of royalty with Kamen Rider Zi-O, fans have taken to doing Woz's trademark "IWAE!" during awesome moments. The jokes further intensified with #12, where Jeramie actually reads out the prophecy from a book, just as Woz did.
- Rita is Bocchi. ExplanationDespite them seemingly being completely different characters, many fans have taken note that Rita shares many similarities with the titular character from Bocchi the Rock, and redraws of them in various Bocchi frames are quite popular.
- Upon the announcement that the Sixth Ranger would be themed on a spider, jokes about Toei's Spider-Man ensued.
- "Anti-Venom is the sixth ranger?!"ExplanationThe reveal of the sixth Ranger, Spider Kumonos, had a lot of fans noting a few similarities with the iconic "good" Venom, in particular the jagged spider emblem on his helmet and the white color scheme.
- Here comes the Spider-Char!ExplanationJeramie Brasieri, Spider Kumonos' civilian identity, even sports a Cool Mask, which also doubles as his main weapon and Transformation Trinket. He even invokes the same vibes as Char Aznable and his archetypes.
- Spiders JeremyExplanationDue to Jeramie's last name being hard to spell and pronounce, many fans have taken to calling him by this for convenience. Also a reference to the Spiders Georg meme.
- Jeramie has been often compared to another Jeremy by Western viewers.
- "Yanma Gast was able to rebuild N'Kosopa! OUT OF PILES OF SCRAP!"Explanation#13 reveals that N'Kosopa was nothing but a gigantic scrapyard before Yanma single-handedly rebuilt it, leading fans to compare him to Tony Stark and altering Stane's quote accordingly.
- #19's split screen between the six members made Western viewers compare it to The Brady Bunch's iconic opening split screen.
- Kingohger Cosmic Fury ExplanationThe teaser poster for the series’ two year Time Skip has the team in a cosmic-styled background, leading to many comparisons to the poster for Cosmic Fury revealed just days earlier, some joking they were going to space as well. Bonus points reveal that while Kingohger will have the cast of Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger returning, Cosmic Fury will have the Dark Ranger from Power Rangers Dino Charge joining!
- Ohsama Sentai Gurren Lagann ExplanationWith the reveal of the new villains, fans began comparing the series to TTGL, both series featuring a conflict involving one side from beneath the earth, the hero wielding a weapon shaped like a drill, having a timeskip in-between arcs and having the antagonists of the second arc hailing from space. The final episode even features the mech and Big Bad growing to galaxy-size during their fight.
- What about the Ant? ExplanationA recurring gag from the YouTube comment sections is that despite being part of the combination, God Ant is never mentioned or focused on in either Legend King-Ohger or Extreme King-Ohger's combination sequence. This meant that when God King-Ohger put God Ant in the spotlight, fans were quick to point it out.
- The Tarantula Knight ExplanationThe end of #29 has Jeramie take the fall for the aides attacking the monarchs and making himself Public Enemy #1. Fans immediately noticed the parallels to the ending of the TDK and ran with it; funnily enough, Jeramie's mech is named "Tarantula Knight".
- "Now, I'm not saying that what the Sixth Hero did was right or wrong. BUT... I understand." ExplanationThe full reveal of Jeramie's mother Nephila in #30 has sparked reactions along those lines.
- Dagded's Berserk Button being people getting his name wrong has led to fans riffing on his name, calling him things like Dig Dug or Dag Dimmadome.
- “I’m sending you to the worst place imaginable.” ExplanationDagded’s threat to the monarchs in #31 resulted in edits of this line being cut with somewhere the poster thinks is the worst in the world, with varying degrees of Take That!
- Shugo Mask... He is a Rcules.ExplanationWith the reveal of Shugo Mask turning out to be a returning Rcules Husty, comparisons to him with Char Aznable are all too obvious to ignore.
- Tachibana, why?! Explanation With Grodie’s actor being Kamen Rider alumni Kousei Amano, many people instantly started making connections to his role as Sakuya Tachibana, already memetic in his own right.
- Iroki being portrayed by Amano's wife Akiko Hinagata also spawned countless "SAYOKO!!!" memes... Sayoko having a completely different actress notwithstanding.
- The writer's barely-disguised fetish ExplanationSeveral viewers have noted that the power sets of the Galactinsects, in particular Minongan's ability to make someone regress mentally to a child, could be construed as a form of Author Appeal.
- We are in the endgame now/Avengers Assemble Explanation The finale being split into multiple episodes, with cinema-level background and featuring scenes such as a blackened ruin with the main villain sitting, Dugded calling a meteor shower, and many characters doing a frontal charge together, has led to comparisons with the MCU's Infinity Saga's two-parter finale.
- #キングオージャー最終三話劇場版/King-Ohger Final Three Episodes Movie Version ExplanationA social hashtag started by DekaGreen's actor Yosuke Ito requesting Toei to release a Re-Cut of the final three episodes as a single, feature-length movie. Fans quickly adapted the tag to the point where it was trending at the top of domestic and international trending lists for a good couple of hours. Toei acceded to said fan request, with a combined version to be released on TTFC at a later date with added scenes and DVD Commentary from the production team.
Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger
- Screw the Rules, I Have Money! ExplanationTaiya's Crimefighting with Cash methods have earned him jokes from fans about how he would solve just about everything with money. Bonus points for Yu-Gi-Oh! fans for how the scene of Taiya obtaining the garbage facility reminding them of the famous scene in the Waking the Dragons arc where Seto Kaiba writes a check in order to purchase a car before driving off.
- MadRex has spawned multiple Mad Max jokes due to their names. He even has a Canine Companion in the form of Hashiri-ken, who in turn has been compared to Dog from The Road Warrior
- Japanese Dom TorettoExplanation#8 reveals that Taiya created the Boonboom Cars and formed the Boonboomgers not to protect Earth or to do various delivery jobs, but to help him compete in the intergalactic Big Bang Grand Prix. This led to comparisons with another car-based franchise, and to its lead played by Vin Diesel in particular.
