Manhwa / My Three Tyrant Brothers

Go To

In the Empire of Ascania, all members of the Imperial Family are cursed to die at the hands of a loved one, forcing them to live without attachments. This curse can only be broken with the birth of a girl into the bloodline, so when a young slave girl with the Imperial Family's color-changing eyes is found, she's declared the long-lost daughter of the Emperor and the long-awaited spring of Ascania, Princess Chloe! Excited to have a family, Chloe is nonetheless perplexed by the strange personalities of her three older brothers, whose respective lives of cold detachment have left them with... quirks. Can she melt their icy hearts and change them for the better?

My Three Tyrant Brothers is a completed Korean Web Novel by jomil, which has been adapted into a manhwa by km and Parkha. It is hosted on Kakao, and an English translation is available on Tapas.

Tropes:

  • Childhood Friend Romance: Chloe and Theo befriend each other as the child slaves "Wednesday" and "Sunday", and fall in love when they become adults.
  • Connected All Along: Inverted. The reader is initially led to believe that Theo is somehow connected to Kara after he's revealed to be a dragon. The ending reveals that the two have nothing to do with each other—Theo is actually a young dragon from another world who met and fell in love with Chloe during her second life. When she died saving him and her soul returned to her original world, he decided to search the multiverse to find and reunite with her, eventually succeeding and reincarnating into the Theo the story has been following.
  • Interclass Friendship: Deconstructed with Chloe and Theo, after Chloe becomes a princess and Theo is brought to the imperial palace to be a servant. As much as the two want to remain friends like they were when they were slaves, the disparity in status between them is too great for them to keep their former dynamic. In private, they can act as familiar as they want, but in public Theo has no choice but to constantly defer to Chloe and treat her as a stranger. In order to remedy this issue, Chloe convinces Chester to have Theo adopted by the noble Nigel family, making him nobility in his own right and closing the social gap between them to something that can be easily bridged.
  • Made a Slave: After Chloe was born, her mother was murdered and she was sold into slavery. It's later revealed that the kidnappers were actually supposed to kill her too, but decided to sell her to earn some more money, figuring she would eventually die from the abuse before anyone could find her.
  • Reincarnation: Chloe is the reincarnation of Fetima, the younger sister of the first Ascanian Emperor.
  • Reincarnation Romance: The ending reveals Theo is a young dragon who fell in love with Chloe during her second life, and deliberately reincarnated into her original world so he could reunite with her. Theo only learns this after he reawakens his dragon abilities and regains his Past-Life Memories, while Chloe remains unaware—though it's implied she subconsciously recognized him, as she gave him the same name she gave him in her second life.
  • There Is Another: Originally, we are led to believe that the Ancient Dragon, the one who cursed the Ascania Imperial Family, has died and that Yokaryote is looking to somehow resurrect him. In reality, there are two dragons—the original Ancient Dragon, Kara, who has been masquerading as Chloe's mentor Rael and has been watching over Ascania for generations, and a young dragon from another world, Theo, who followed Chloe's soul to her original world to reunite with her.
  • Yandere: All three of Chloe's brothers are extremely possessive of her, which is partially justified by how she's the first person they can get close to and sincerely love without fear of dying.
