The Marshmallow Times (マシュマロ通信) is a Comedy and Slice of Life manga series created by LunLun Yanamoto that ran from 2004 to 2006 in the magazines Asahi Shougakusei Shimbun and Asahi Chuugakusei Weekly.
It was adapted into a 52-episode TV anime co-produced by Studio Comet and now defunct Korean studio, Seoul Movie that aired on TV Tokyo and its affiliates from April 2004 to March 2005.
The series focuses on a journalism team made up of seven children (Sandy, Jasmine, Lime, Basil, Clove, Nuts, and Cinnamon) and their sheep companion, Cloud. The group travel the world and get up to various adventures.
The Marshmallow Times contains examples of:
- Civilized Animal: Cloud is a talking sheep who walks on two legs and wears clothing... Yet is also Sandy's pet.
- Flowers of Femininity: Jasmine is portrayed as hyperfeminine, having long pink hair and notably wearing flowers in it.
- Fortune Teller: Cinnamon loves to tell fortunes.
- Nightmare Fetishist: Despite her age, Cinnamon takes great interest in the creepy and macabre.
- Ojou: Jasmine is rich and popular, and even has the signature Ojou Ringlets.
- Puni Plush: The series has a very unique and soft, round art style.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Sandy is more tomboyish, while her best friend Jasmine is extremely girly.
- Unlimited Wardrobe: The characters wear a wide variety of fashion.
- World of Technicolor Hair: Of our main cast, we have pink, blue in two different shades, and green...
