Shigahime ("Corpse Princess") is a horror manga by Hirohisa Sato, which was serialized in Comic Zenon from 2016 to 2019 and compiled into five volumes.

Osamu Hirota is an ordinary Japanese high schooler who thinks that his life so far is just a little bit boring. This changes when his friend, Souichi Tachibana, invites him to a mansion where he promises that Miwako, the beautiful yet mysterious occupant, will have sex with him. What Souichi doesn't tell him is that Miwako is an immortal vampire who feeds on the blood of young men that Souichi, under her thrall, brings to the house in the hopes of becoming her subservient "familiar".

Fortunately for Osamu, Miwako changes her mind about killing him. Unfortunately for Osamu, Miwako decides to instead make him her familiar — a being cursed with the form of a monster and the need to hunt for blood to sustain a human form, tasked with collecting human hearts for Miwako to subsist on. Things go downhill for Osamu from here. Far, FAR downhill.

Shigahime contains examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: The first chapter proceeds as if Souichi is the main character and Villain Protagonist, until the big twist comes and Miwako kills him.
  • Cute and Psycho: Miwako and the other members of the blood race. Including Chika.
  • Decoy Protagonist: The first chapter follows Souichi as the focus character, showing his horrible home life and how he collects victims for Miwako in order to prove himself worthy of becoming a familiar. Then Miwako brutally kills him and the focus turns to the would-be victim Osamu. However, Souichi later comes back as a Deuteragonist.
  • Downer Ending: Damn. Of the three young main characters, only Osamu is alive; although he finally cuts ties with Miwako for good (after realizing the cruelest thing he can do to an immortal creature is to abandon them, as being immortal himself he can do the one thing no one else can and deny her companionship that would never go away), the fact that he has been missing for years and is now basically a Frankenstein-type monster means he has no normal life to return to. Miwako faces no real consequences for her actions (besides being reminded that ultimately she will forever be alone in the world for all eternity), leaving her free to find another familiar. Meanwhile, the city has become deserted after the bloody school massacre Chika caused.
  • Enfant Terrible: After becoming a member of the blood race, Chika forces Osamu to prove his devotion to her by forcing him to kill their classmates after turning them all into monsters. She treats the ensuing carnage as if it's a game and congratulates Osamu on his "achievement" while they are both surrounded by Gorn.
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: Chika after becoming one of the blood race. And how.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Tachibana wears eyeglasses and can be a thoroughly vicious piece of work.
  • Ghost Town: The city has become one eighteen years after the school massacre.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Miwako either wears form-fitting clothes or strips completely, especially when she's trying to be seductive. This quickly turns into Fan Disservice when she gruesomely kills her victims or when she switches to her "blood race" form.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Chika's death causes Osamu and Souichi to engage is their most violent duel, which ends with the both of them reduced to charred, undead torsos.
  • Thousand-Yard Stare: Osamu sports one through two chapters after Chika forces him to massacre their entire school.
  • Time Skip: The penultimate chapter skips eighteen years between Chika's death and a Frankensteined Osamu freeing himself from Miwako's lab.
