Parallel Sailor Moon is a short story created by Naoko Takeuchi in 1999, the year of the Rabbit. It was originally released as part of the Materials Collection artbook, and was reprinted in 2004 as part of the book "Sailor Moon Short Stories Vol. 2".

In a parallel universe, the Sailor Guardians have grown up, all gotten married, and have children of their own. The star of Parallel Sailor Moon is Usagi Tsukino's second daughter, Kousagi Tsukino, who is also a Sailor Senshi.

Kousagi and her four friends (Ami Jr, Rei Jr, Mako, and Mina) discover their powers when they meet a pink unnamed cat with a crescent moon on its head; the cat is similar in appearance to Diana, and is described as being the color of "the candy at the dentist before you practice brushing that makes the food in your mouth turn pink". Together, they stop a rabbit comet from destroying the Earth.

Parallel Sailor Moon contains examples of:

  • Alternate Universe: In this universe, Crystal Tokyo does not come about, Usagi and Mamoru do not become Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion and everyone is living normal lives.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: When Usagi arrives at her friends' get-together, Ami, Minako and Rei complain about having to wait for so many pages and that Usagi is supposed to be the main character.
    • When the pink cat first appears, Mina says it's a shame that the readers can't see her in color.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: Kousagi is every bit as ditzy and food-obsessed as Usagi.
  • Or Was It a Dream?: Kousagi realizes turning into a Sailor Guardian and fighting the rabbit comet was not a dream when she looks down and sees the pink cat beside her.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Chibiusa complains about how ditzy Usagi is, having to always check up on Kousagi and scolding Usagi for forgetting about PTA meetings and bills.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Kousagi is afraid of cats.
  • With Friends Like These...: The Parallel Inners make no secret of the fact that they don't like Kousagi, from making her carry their shopping bags to leaving her with the pink cat while being well aware she's afraid of cats.
