Maboroshi Panty is a manga series written by Yasutaka Nagai and illustrated by Go Nagai. It was originally serialized in Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1982.
The series is about a teenage schoolgirl named Susumi Fuji, who helps her father Inspector Fuji thwart crime as her alter ego Maboroshi Panty by wearing nothing but a scarf, gloves, boots and two pairs of panties, one worn as a mask with eyeholes and the other worn over her nether regions like regular panties.
Maboroshi Panty provids examples of:
- Body Paint: One story has Maboroshi Panty thwart a panty thief by fighting him with panties painted on her nether regions after her first two attempts at subduing him ended with her forced to flee after losing her panties to him.
- Death by Secret Identity: Maboroshi Panty shoots Waki dead after he unmasks her and learns her secret identity.
- Defeat by Modesty: Maboroshi Panty's usual reaction to losing her lower panties (i.e., the ones she's not wearing as a mask) is to retreat while desperately covering herself, though there are occasions where she willingly goes on fighting in the nude or willingly sacrifices her panties to escape.
- Full-Frontal Assault: Maboroshi Panty fights criminals while wearing nothing but panties, gloves, boots and a scarf. On occasion, she's even willing to continue fighting when circumstances result in her losing her non-mask panties.
- Panty Thief: A story in the first volume has a man use a fishing lure to snatch women's panties right off. Maboroshi Panty herself has the misfortune of losing two pairs of panties to the criminals' methods.
- Groin Attack: A story in the second volume has Maboroshi Panty fight Waki, a short man with a prehensile penis. She at one point incapacitates him by biting his penis.
- Rogues' Gallery Transplant: The third volume has Satan's Toenail, the main villain of Kekko Kamen, serve as the main villain after becoming the new principal of Susumi's school.
- Secret-Keeper: Susumi's father eventually learns of his daughter's secret identity and ends up assisting her by taking on an underwear-clad vigilante persona of his own.
- Toilet Humour: The first story has Maboroshi Panty take on a villain who's crapped so much that a bathroom is flooded with feces.
