A manga spin-off of the eyeball-meltingly popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, in which the characters from the game are in a high school setting.
Alphinaud and Alisaie Leveilleur are first-years at the Academia Eorzea. Two years prior, there were two rival schools that have since merged into a single school, but even with the merger, the students from those schools continue to bicker and fight. So Principle Tataru organizes a school-wide competition in hopes of fostering good will between the students. By dividing them into two groups, Light and Dark, the students will work towards scoring points by doing things such as getting good grades or doing good deeds in and out of class. Whichever group scores the most points will have their wish granted.
At the same time, Alisaie sparks something akin to a rivalry with Zenos, a student of Dark that is adored by his fellow Students of Dark.
Tropes present in this work include:
- Absurdly Divided School: As stated above, two rival schools merged into one, but even after two years, the animosity between the students hasn't abated. The divide is shown as the students are either Students of Light (categorized by their white uniforms) or Students of Dark (categorized by their black uniforms).
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: in Chapter 4, a giant kraken emerges from the sea before being defeated by Estinien.
- Beach Episode: Chapter 4
- Big Man on Campus: Zenos. At least among the Students of Dark.
- High School AU: Of Final Fantasy XIV.
- In-Series Nickname: The students secretly refer to Y'shtola as "Mommy".
- Interclass Friendship: Despite the animosity between the two groups of students, Ryne and Gaia are the best of friends.
- Laser-Guided Karma: When Thancred accidentally eats Urianger's limited-edition pudding, he warns Thancred that a terrible fate will befall him. Near the end of the chapter, while trying to catch his pet Nutkin, Thancred's clothes explode, exposing himself to Alisaie, Ysayle, Ryne, and Gaia.
- Late for School: Alphinaud and Alisaie were almost late to school, partially because Alisaie stayed up late watching TV and she forgot there was an assembly.
- Miss Big: Tataru is the principal of the school.
- Scenery Censor: Much like in the game, when Thancred is rendered naked, his pet Nutkin covers his crotch.
- School Festival: The setting of Chapter 2, complete with Relay Races, Fetch Races, and a Three-Legged Race.
