Dandelion Among Lilies (Yuri ni Tanpopo) is a short 6-chapter Yuri Genre manga by Serika Yamaguchi, which was serialized in Yuri Koi from 2012 to 2013.
On the day Kanae Fuji breaks up with her boyfriend, her older sister Mizuho suddenly calls asking to stay the night. Mizuho isn't alone either. She's brought over her girlfriend, Tachiki Ena. Kanae didn't even know her sister had a girlfriend. Mizuho and Ena end up staying a few days longer. During this period, Kanae finds out about issues in her sister's seemingly perfect relationship and tries to help mend it.
This manga provides examples of:
- Ambiguously Bi: Ena is explicitly lesbian however Mizuho's sexuality is vaguer. On one hand, she was in a relationship with a boy years ago and says that she loved him. However, her issues over homosexuality and the insecurities in her relationship with Ena suggest he might have been a beard to cover up the issues she had with her attraction towards women.
- The Beard: As a teenager, Mizuho's boyfriend used her as a beard. She didn't learn this until his lover confessed it to her.
- Gayngst: The drama comes down to the social acceptability of same-gender couples. Due to Mizuho's insistence on their relationship being a secret, Ena starts thinking that Mizuho is ashamed of her. This soon spirals into a bigger issue involving trust and whether they're really serious about one another.
- Parental Abandonment: Kana lives alone despite her young age. There are no signs of any parents, even in flashbacks.
- Queer Flowers: The title of the manga, Dandelion Among Lillies, references how lesbianism is associated with lily flowers.
- Secret Relationship: Mizuho and Ena's relationship causes ostracization so they try to avoid being open.
- Short Teens, Tall Adults: Kana is a lot shorter than both her adult sister and her girlfriend.
- Strong Family Resemblance: Sisters Mizuho and Kana look a lot alike aside from their height difference and hairstyles.
