Chieri's Love is 8 Meters Tall (Chieri no Koi wa 8 Meters) is a romantic comedy shonen manga series written and illustrated by Mitogawa Wataru, which began serialization in Shonen Jump + in October 2022.

Chieri Ohmine is your average girl who has been recently transferred to a new school. Except that she stands 8 meters tall. She is provided housing, food, and materials by the government, but the school assigns her a “helper” to help her navigate her school life at this size. Her helper happens to also be her old friend from childhood Yumeji Kotaki, who she hasn’t seen in years.

Tropes:

  • Ambiguous Situation: It’s never explained what caused Chieri and Niero to grow into 8 meter tall giantesses. Just that they are. The question finally arises in chapter 43.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Chieri and Niero are both 8 meters tall, so about half of fifty feet. Though, there is a dream sequence from Yumeji when he imagines Chieri to grow even larger, reaching 80 meters in size.
  • Attention Whore: Niero is resentful of all the attention Chieri gets; as the first giant girl, she feels that she should be getting all the attention.
  • Beach Episode: Chapters 32 and 33, where Chieri invites her friends to the private beach reserved for giant girls.
  • Big Eater: Justified with Chieri since she’s so big.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Ringo is very dotting and protective of Chieri (calling her precious) to a degree that some people are weirded out by it.
  • Big Little Sister: Chieri has an older sister named Ringo who is The Ace, tall, very voluptuous and attractive. She’s also normal sized while Chieri is big enough to pick her up with one hand.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Chieri has a large bust (even for her size) which her friends compliment and suggest she use to her advantage to woo Yumeji. Niero is also jealous of Chieri’s bust while hers are quite small.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: When Ringo is angry (and drunk) she’s capable of feats that make her sister say even a tank couldn’t stop her. Niero thinks it’s an exaggeration until Ringo jumps high enough to reach her, pulls apart her two-handed grip, chases after a motorcycle, and it takes Niero plus both of Chieri’s friends just to hold her back.
  • Childhood Friends: Yumeji was assigned to be Chieri’s helper because they were friends when they were kids (before she grew so huge). Even though he hadn’t seen her in years before she transferred to his Highschool.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Yumeji and Chieri are attracted to each other but not official yet.
  • Chick Magnet:
    • Subverted with Yumeji. Chieri has a crush on him. Niero wants to steal him as a helper from Chieri but this seems to be mostly just out of her One Sided Rivalry with Chieri. One of Chieri’s friends even states that while she thinks Yumeji is nice and cute she wouldn’t go out with him since he isn’t her type.
    • Chieri’s older sister seems to have feelings for him. In chapter 40 she implies that part of her reason for wanting him and Chieri to get together is because, as her little sister's “provider”, she considers what is “Chieri’s” to be “hers” as well.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Chieri does NOT like it when Niero takes Yumeji from her.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Chieri can be a bit clumsy, which can cause a bit of a ruckus given her size. Though other times she's shown to be an Impossibly Graceful Giant.
  • Cute Giant: Chieri is as adorable as she's gigantic. Niero tries to be this.
  • Forgot I Couldn't Swim: Yumeji, so Chieri teaches him.
  • The Generic Guy: Yumeji is a Nice Guy who’s very supportive of Chieri and, aside from his fixation on big muscles, that’s about it. This is actually brought up in chapter 39 where Yumeji tries different styles to add “flair” to him after one of Chieri’s friends says that while he’s nice and cute she wouldn’t date him due to this. But Chieri prefers him the way he is. At the end, Yumeji decides it’s ok for him to be normal when he’s surrounded by so many “interesting” people.
  • Gentle Giant: Chieri is very sweet and uses her size to stop traffic and help people. Even if it makes her late for school.
  • Giant Woman:
    • Both Chieri and Niero.
    • In an Omake, Yumeji has a nightmare where Chieri grows to 80 meters tall and accidentally destroys the city.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Chieri has light brownish hair and one of the few things she likes about her new size is that she can use it to help people.
  • Huge School Girl: Both Chieri and Niero are high school girls who are towering giantesses.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Chieri has shades of this, occasionally missing the days when she was normal size.
  • Impossibly Graceful Giant: Despite being usually a Cute Clumsy Girl, Chieri has shown several times the ability to rush through a city without accidentally stepping on anyone nor causing any property damage.
  • It's All About Me: Niero has this attitude from time to time. As the first of the giant girls, she feels that Chieri is getting all the attention that should be hers.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Niero may act like an Alpha Bitch, but she has a good heart, deep deep down.
  • Marshmallow Hell: Yumeji often ends up trapped in Chieri's ample cleavage. He is also shoved down Niero's blouse when she and Chieri fight over him.
  • Muscle Angst: Downplayed but in one chapter Yumeji admits his ideal body is very muscular.
  • The Napoleon: Chiisaki Kaoruko, introduced in Chapter 43. She has a servant carry her on his shoulders to tower over others, wears platform shoes, and gets angry when Chieri makes an innocent comment on her height that she interprets as an insult.
  • Popping Buttons: In the first chapter, Chieri pops one of her shirt buttons, as she complains of the quality of her clothing.
  • The Rival: Niero considers Chieri this for stealing her thunder as the second giant woman. But it's pretty much one-sided on her part, as Chieri treats her like a friend.
  • Shipper on Deck: Chieri’s friends try encouraging her to make a move on Yumeji. Her sister also approves of them.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man:
    • Chieri prefers Yumeji the way he is because he’s always there for her. When he tries a different style by acting arrogant she grabs him and shouts that she hates this.
    • Ringo, Chieri’s sister, is bitter over going out with jerks who only like her looks and is drawn to Yumeji for his niceness. She even hugs him and says she wants a guy like him.
  • Square-Cube Law: Due to her size, Chieri is so heavy that the pavement beneath her cracks. Despite this she is an Impossibly Graceful Giant (she even runs track) and appears to suffer no physical drawbacks from her increased height, weight, and body heat. However, it is noted that Chieri gets hot and sweats a lot due to a massive body heat build-up due to her size.
  • Third-Person Person: Niero speaks this way, possibly to emphasize her immaturity.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Exaggerated with Yumeji and Chieri. As the premise shows, he's normal sized while she's the size of a building.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: No one is fazed by Chieri or Niero, two 8 meter giants. Justified in the first chapter where a recap explains that they were both a big topic at first but it’s been a while since they’ve grown so the hype has died down.
  • Weight Woe: Chieri wishes she was thinner even though she’s quite voluptuous. Niero starts putting on weight in chapter 36 from her frequent visits to the “Giant Girls Cafe” (a government-built cafe specific to Niero and Chieri) and becomes fat in chapter 37.
