Man Of A Thousand Voices / English Web Video

Go To

Web personalities (such as YouTubers) with a versatile voice range are listed here.

  • Bad Lip Reading is a YouTube Gag Dub channel, run by an anonymous male producer who does all the male and female voices.
  • Jeff Schwertfeger, who voices Fart Garfunkel, Gaylord Steambath, and Milky_Dad from Minecraft: The N00b Adventures, none of whom sound anything like each other.
  • Many Let's Players show great skill in voice acting. Special mention goes to ProtonJon (Big the Cat from Sonic Adventure, to Waluigi, to Captain Falcon from F-Zero, to Albert Wesker from Resident Evil 5, etc.), MasaeAnela (eldery women to young boys, sexy women, etc.), Lucahjin (young men, various accents, etc.), and JohneAwesome (who can voice everything from Husky Russkie (he was trying to do Jorgen from Fairly Odd Parents though), Simpleton Voice for Banjo from Banjo-Kazooie, to a quite good falsetto for Flurrie etc., although that voice hurt his throat from not having real training).
  • Many of the Vinesauce streamers. Special mention goes to Vinny (Mario, Luigi (cartoon versions), Gordon Ramsay, etc), Imakuni (Tails, Creepy Children Kawaiiko, etc), Hootey, and Joel (Kermit, Skeletor, etc).
  • Due to usually being done by a few dedicated fans, Abridged Series have shown this cool trait can be more common than we thought. It's not universal, but still all over the place.
  • Matt Chapman, one of the co-creators of Homestar Runner, manages to voice almost all the characters for the site. It's easier to list who he does not voice (Marzipan, voiced by his sister-in-law, Missy Palmer, the Poopsmith's singing voice by John Linnell of They Might Be Giants, and the characters as portrayed in the Cheat's flash cartoons by Matt's brother Mike).
    • It's especially impressive when one of his characters impersonates another and you can tell which is impersonating which.
    • In addition, he also voiced a few minor characters in Gravity Falls, none of which sound anything alike.
  • Nice Peter, from Epic Rap Battles of History, has portrayed all sorts of characters, all with vastly different vocal tones, from the high pitches of the Shamwow Guy (Vince Offer), to the dulcet tones of Mr. Rogers (Mister Rogers' Neighborhood), all the way down to the baritone of Darth Vader (Star Wars) and Ludwig van Beethoven.
  • On YouTube, there's Jared a.k.a The Man of 100 Voices, in which he did exactly 100 voices in around 4 minutes and 2 seconds. Later, his record was best by Brock Baker- who's also made dozens of other funny videos showing his impressive range- by over 10 seconds plus one extra voice. And then, of course- The Man of One Million Voices. Some of those voices were better than others, though that's to be expected.
  • Black Gryph0n or Gabriel Brown is incredibly versatile with his voice. He can sound like Venom and Spider Man in one video. Check this and then this out for proof.
  • Egoraptor (Arin Hanson) and Tomamoto (Joshua Tomar) are well-known voice actors on the Internet, particularly on Newgrounds. Egoraptor is most famous for his "Awesome" Shorts, and Tomamoto is known for his Fandubs, both of which showcase their ridiculous range.
    • In the Newgrounds series the Decline of Videogaming, Egoraptor voices all three of the Evil Developers and Shigeru Miyamoto... all of whom have different voice pitch and word pronunciation. They don't sound alike at all.
    • Arin voiced Kanji Tatsumi, who's heavily implied to be gay, in the Persona 4 Hiimdaisy Comic Dub. The group goes to save Kanji in the TV, and when they find him they see his Shadow Self, who says in a stereotypical gay man's voice, "I'm Kanji Tatsumi and I enjoy naked men. Oh yeah~". Seriously, you wouldn't even know it was him.
    • In one episode of Game Grumps, late in Episode 49 of their Sonic '06 playthrough, Arin shows how he can do Vegeta's voice from both the Ocean AND the Funimation dubs. He can also flawlessly imitate Shaggy, Toad, Barack Obama and Larry the Cable Guy.
  • Tom Fawkes shows this trope all the time, with some of the funniest being Skeletor Papyrus, super hammy Metaton, whatever you would call Temmy, in some sick way Flowey and ......Alphys. That's scratching the surface of ONE game.
  • Itsjustsomerandomguy, creator of I'm a Marvel... And I'm a DC. Besides doing all the male voices on the series, his Blog TV conferences have featured him showing off some more of his range, like almost all of the Muppets.
  • Linkara from Atop the Fourth Wall. In a typical review he'll have about four or five voices for narrating the comic, himself, and then an appearance from one of his other four characters.
    • While we're on about Channel Awesome, Doug Walker himself. He can pull off a naive child, women, ALF, an opera singer, and a baritone British villain, all in one review! It's even more impressive when his face is off-screen or over another character!
    • Case in point.
    • Benzaie. Watch any of his "Let's Fap" videos; you don't know funny until you've heard Kermit the Frog (The Muppets) recite hentai dialogue.
  • Octopimp - AKA Master Yorgi - of YouTube fame can play a good chunk of the Homestuck cast, most famously Gamzee and Tavros.
  • Philsterman10, most known for being the definitive fan voice for the colt versions of the Mane Six (My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic).
  • Anna Brisbin, under her YouTube Stage Name Brizzy Voices, earned attention for this on her YouTube channel for doing voice impressions- just check her doing the original 151 Pokémon. As a bonafide voice actress in the video game world, her range varies from character to character, from Katie in Final Fantasy VII Remake to Belanda and Dahlia in Monster Prom Second Term.
  • And speaking of Brizzy Voices, Her friend and Disney geek Brian Hull is this too. Yes, that guy who did Let It Go (Frozen (2013)) with a lot of Disney voices and even does voice impressions to a lot of characters whenever he's on the Disney Theme Parks and even while doing drive-thru takeouts. Here's one example of him doing that to the princesses.
  • Matt Wilson of Bonus Stage and Cartoon Drive Thru voiced nearly every character in Bonus Stage and all in Cartoon Drive-Thru.
  • David "Shmorky" Kelly, right-hand man of Something Awful founder Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka, whom he co-hosts with in his Gaming Garbage Let's Play channel. He's also the creator of The Flash Tub. He's most identified for having a strange, oddly nasal and effeminate voice reminiscent of the kind voice actors use for small cartoon characters. That's his natural speaking voice. Despite this fact, he has a startlingly wide range and actually go deeper than most normal voice actors, in addition to being able to imitate various effects. To put it another way, if you don't see a character credited in a Flash Tub animation, just assume Shmorky voiced it.
  • An example who, interestingly enough, isn't a professional voice actor is Fraser Agar, frontman of Video Games Awesome!. This is best exemplified in the show's playthroughs of the Ace Attorney series, where he dubs the vast majority of the characters himself. For someone who has had no formal training, the sheer variety of voices he comes up with is astounding. Even more impressive is his ability to switch between voices on the fly, often seamlessly.
  • Let's Player NicoB is well known for the wide variety of voices he gives to the characters of the games he plays, each with their own distinct personality. He has even made a series of videos centered around the voices themselves, titled The Council of Voices. There are currently a total of twenty-seven distinct voices on the council, and that only accounts for a fraction of the voices he has done.
  • Ryan Cooper of the New Zealand animation company "Mukpuddy" has been able to provide voices for the entire cast of various shows the team has animated, such as all twelve characters in The Trash Pack webseries, giving them each a unique voice.
  • Eileen Montgomery, better known by her internet alias "EileMonty", has a truly impressive vocal range; she has several videos on her YouTube channel where she accurately imitates the voices of numerous characters from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, while singing.
  • Rooster Teeth has a few, including two great female cases:
    • During the early days of Red vs. Blue, Matt Hullum was described as being "the closest Rooster Teeth has to actual voice acting", given he had four roles that sound totally unlike, the gruff Southerner Sarge, the meek Doc, the Card-Carrying Villain O'Malley, and the stuffy Brit Wyoming.
    • Lindsay Jones has a deep voice expected from such a tall and bulky woman. Yet they have also become famous for playing the childish, low-pitched and nasal Ruby Rose (RWBY). In Red Vs Blue, they voice Vanessa Kimball, who sounds even more mature than Lindsay's normal voice, and in one episode does a surprisingly close imitation of Gus Sorola's Simmons. And then there's Space Kid (Camp Camp), a childish boy who is also nasal but is totally different from Ruby.
    • While Barbara Dunkelman basically uses her normal voice on RWBY (as Yang, the Y of the titular team), in X-Ray & Vav she was high-pitched, in Red vs. Blue she was lispy, and Camp Camp has her with a childish and throaty voice (here's her demonstrating the last two).
    • In the RT shows, Miles Luna has either his normal voice (Red vs. Blue, gen:LOCK) or a nerdier one (RWBY, Camp Camp). But at RTX, he's frequently complimented for impersonations. Jessica Nigri stated it's easy to go into Cinder's voice because of Miles doing her lines on the temp track. Burnie Burns and the other RT founders have joked he can imitate the Red vs. Blue characters so well (he's already subbed in for Tucker and Donut on PSAs) that someday the show can be done with only Miles, highlighting his Sarge voice.
  • In The With Voices Project, Teach provides about 60% of the male voices, including Defect Mogeko, King mogeko, Moffuru, General Hashasky, Male Etihw, Tal E. Whacker, Lowrie, Emalf, Thanatos, Elliott, Frisk... not to mention a small army of nameless bit parts! His brother, Weatherman, also qualifies, playing Shinya Kurai, Somewhat Strange Mogeko, Blood Spirit, Kcalb, Dingleberry, Dyluck, Sans, and Papyrus.
  • Kevin Lerdwichagul has a pretty vast range of voices in SMG4. For example, Fishy Boopkins and Axol sound nothing alike.
  • Michael Kovach, aka KoVox, is commonly called the Tom Kenny or Tara Strong of Web Animation, and it's not hard to see why. For reference, compare The Prototype to any of his other roles.
  • Juno Songs has a thousand singing voices. He doesn't just use his regular voice for covers; he does impressions of whatever character he's singing as, which includes all sorts of pitches and a wide variety of accents.
