Tropes pertaining to anything the creators of a work seemingly abandoned or forgot existed.
Tropes:
- Aborted Arc: An ongoing storyline is abruptly abandoned.
- Absent Animal Companion: Pets tend to show up in one episode of an episodic series, and disappear forever the next.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: A character disappeared from the work with no explanation.
- Dead Fic: Fanfiction that was prematurely ended.
- Kudzu Plot: Many plot threads are started at once, and are not resolved for a long time, if at all.
- Left Hanging: A story ended with some serious plot threads left unresolved.
- Orphaned Series: A work ended prematurely because the creator doesn't want to or can't work on it any longer.
- Out of Focus: One character got the spotlight, and then others tend to disappear or fade into the background.
- Red Herring Twist
- Series Continuity Error: Events in a story that contradict previous explicitly established canon.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Sandwich: A character gets his food but never eats it.
- Vaporware: A work that's always Coming Soon! without ever actually arriving.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: A minor plot point or character disappeared from the work without resolution.
