Zylotta is a Si-Fi series that takes place on Zylotta (full designation: Zylotta Major G342). A sort of nexus of culture in the Orion Arm, Zylotta has attracted many species over its long history. But one young Zylottan is going to find out that his home world is not the paradise that it's made out to be.
Tropes that apply to Zylotta:
- Absolute Xenophobe: During the Tharsus War Humanity wiped out three other species, simply because said species existed.
- Aliens Speaking English: Inverted: No species (aside from humans) speak English.
- Archaic Weapon for an Advanced Age: Development of modern rifles has not stopped the usage of more "primitive" weapons such as knifes and spears.
- Binary Suns: Type III. Zylotta orbits the smaller star in its system, although one theory is that it once orbited the larger one, before it was "stolen" by the gravitational pull of its current star.
- Bizarre Alien Senses: The Zylottan species is sensitive to the minute electrical impulses emitted by all living things. This ability evolved because Zylottans have a very poor sense of smell. They also can see into the ultraviolet spectrum to a degree, however, this makes them very sensitive to bright flashes.
- Great Offscreen War: The Tharsus War is mentioned in passing by several characters, but is never actually seen. Haven taken place 1,000 years BCE. (Before the Current Era)
- Humans Are Ugly: Humans are seen as the ugliest species in the known Galaxy. Those who see Humans are often filled with a deep sense of revulsion.
- MegaCorp: Fleetworks. Starting off as a simple ship-building company, Fleetworks expanded its horizons during the 2200's to include weapons and mechanized war machines. And recently began to produce civilian product, to coincide with its aim for a more family-friendly visage. But don't let this fool you, FW is a very ambitious corporation, and are willing to go great lengths to keep their power. Even if it means innocent lives are hurt in the process.
- Named After Their Planet: Inverted: The planets named after the species.
- Neglectful Precursors: Studies of the oldest ruins on Zylotta indicate that the civilization that built them vanished at least 100,000 years before the current era. As no remains or ruins have been found after this point, it is believed that they had achieved space flight, as to why they left Zylotta, well, that's one of the greatest questions of the modern age.
- No Such Thing as Alien Pop Culture: Inverted: There are many cultural trends on Zylotta, however, they tend to last longer than Earth's trends.
- Schizo Tech: To an extent. Due to the various species that inhabit Zylotta, it's possible to see fresh off the line Calvassis along side vehicles that wouldn't look out of place during Earth's industrial period. Taken to its most extreme with Jagunda, the Planetary capital, where buildings of every possible shape, size and material exist side by side.
- Starfish Aliens: No species remotely resembles humans, in fact, humans themselves are often seen as the most alien beings on Zylotta.
