- The Ace: Maxine’s Mother Ophelia is considered The Greatest Witch of her Generation, because she single-handedly defeated Shadow Wave at the Age of 18.
- Alpha Bitch: Thalia Flake is the queen bee of Witchery Prep, who quickly clashes with the protagonist Maxine De Rain, but she is actually not as bad as she seems to be and can actually be a Lovable Alpha Bitch.
- Meaningful Name: Thalia Flake as in Snowflake, who’s an Ice Witch. Lena Tiempo. Tiempo is Spanish for Time and Lena is a Time Witch. Cotton Cane as in Cotton Candy and Candy Cane is a Candy Warlock. It’s Subverted in the Case of Cassie Greyfire, but it does hint that she is not what she seems.
- Wizarding School: There are four. Witchery Prep, Nightshade Institute, Moonstone Academy and Hexmoore Academy.
