Until My Color Fades Away is written by NightlockFallen and is a mix of the rainbowcy note and musicacy note challenges for The Sims 3. The founder of the rainbowcy is Crescendo Moon, and her generation (and the story as a whole) began on August 1, 2012.
Warning: Every generation has its twists and turns, so this page is marked with spoiler tape. However, spoilers for Generation 1 will be unmarked in Generation 2, and so on.

General Tropes
- Amazing Technicolor Population: Part of the premise, with exotic hair colors and Technicolor Eyes being commonplace. The thought of being "vanilla"note is almost unthinkable.
- Foregone Conclusion: The narrator will live (at least until the next generation), and will have at least one child, due to the story requiring ten generations.
- Law of Inverse Fertility: Saying which generations this applies most to would be spoiling.note
- Love Interest: There's one every generation. Sometimes there's more than one.
Generation 1
- Break Them by Talking: Kale does this to Crescendo just before he leaves.
- Childhood Friend: Zest and Crescendo met in grade school...
- Childhood Friend Romance: ...and eventually start dating as adults.
- Empty Shell: Crescendo becomes one of these after Kale leaves, and it gets worse once she realizes she's pregnant.
- Et Tu, Brute?: Ice gets this reaction from Crescendo during her introduction.
- Fair-Weather Friend: Ice, shown during the introduction.
- Heroic BSoD: Crescendo goes through one of these after Kale leaves.
- First Guy Wins/Last Guy Wins: Both are true, depending on the point of view being used. For Crescendo, it's the first guy, and for the audience, it's the last guy.
- Honorary Uncle: Zest is this, as the only person who will talk to Crescendo, Kale, and the kids. He probably lost this position when he and Crescendo start dating.
- Let's Have Another Baby: Crescendo says this line almost word for word. The impending breakup does not happen for another few chapters, and appears to be entirely unrelated.
- Love Confession: Between Crescendo and Kale in the first chapter. Although they've been dating for years, this instance might be the first time they've said it.
- Maligned Mixed Marriage: It takes years for the town to get used to Crescendo's and Kale's mixed-color marriage. Kale gets fired from his job because of it, although his boss cites other reasons.
- Missing Mom / Disappeared Dad: None of the adult characters have any parents mentioned or seen at all.
- Kale becomes one by the end of chapter 6.
- My Secret Pregnancy: Crescendo attempts this by staying inside her house. It's discovered when she lets Zest inside.
- Second Love: Crescendo finds one with Zest, and Kale finds one with Ice.
- Secret Relationship: Kale and Crescendo have one for four years, and they go public with it in the second chapter.
- Tempting Fate:Kale: Trust me, I'm not going anywhere.Crescendo: [narrating] I knew [welcoming Ice back as a friend] would come back and bite me in the butt someday.
Generation 2
- Break Her Heart To Save Her: It's revealed that this was Kale's motivation to leave like he did- he was a spy, and his family was in danger of being targeted.
- Fake Relationship: Eclipse and Storm enter one for revenge on their ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend, respectively.
- Family Relationship Switcheroo: From Eclipse's point of view, since she thought Zest was her father, not Kale.
- Last Guy Wins
Generation 3
Generation 4
- Boy Meets Ghoul: Firefly meets Emerald Mist Amulet, who Firefly nicknames Mera.
- First Girl Wins
- Friendly Neighborhood Vampires: What the vampberry monarchy, especially Mera, is trying to be.
- Interspecies Romance: Eventually.
- Muggle and Magical Love Triangle: Firefly ends up in one of them. Played with since one of them married someone else and he's pining after her.
- Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Crimson Blood.
- Old Flame: Firefly's is Mera, and Mera's is Firefly, even when both of them are with different people.
- Our Vampires Are Different: There's a vampire monarchy, and the tears they cry are the color of the last berry's blood they drank. And a vampberry's eyes can be red due to genetics or from drinking directly from a mortal.
- Princess Classic: Mera.
- Second Love: Firefly attempts this with Gamma.
- Take That!: There are a few jabs at The Twilight Saga during this generation.
- Unfazed Everyman: Firefly. It does help that he grew up knowing vampberries were real.
- Vampire Bites Suck: Especially when the vampire intends to kill.
- Well, Excuse Me, Princess!: Firefly and Mera definitely have this dynamic in the beginning, but it fades somewhat by the halfway point of the story.
Generation 5
- Last Girl Wins
- Muggle and Magical Love Triangle: Bliss has one with Crimson and Aquarius.
- Not Quite Dead: Crimson manages to pull one of these.
