The Goosebumps Series 2000 book where a supposed werewolf is being held in a living room.

Aaron Fredius' father is a werewolf hunter. Or at least he sees himself as one, he has yet to find a real werewolf. One day they are out in the forest of the country of Bratvia, trying to find one. Aaron not only manages to discover one, but he is bitten by it. Mr. Fredius sees this and is desperate to catch the creature. He searches and finds a man whom he thinks is the werewolf's human form. However, he insists he is innocent, but Mr. Fredius doesn't listen. They take him home, with plans to expose him to the world when the next full moon comes. Meanwhile, the bite Aaron get seems to be going into effect, and the werewolf may be closer than they think...

This book provides examples of:

  • Adults Are Useless: Aaron's father plays it straight for most of it but later subverts it when he comes to his senses and saves Aaron from the other cops.
  • Abusive Parents: Aaron Freidus' father drags his son to a small European country to hunt a werewolf. He drags a preteen to go after a bloodthirsty monster.
  • And Then John Was a Zombie: It starts out with Aaron being bitten by a werewolf while out looking for one, which later turns him into a werewolf as well. Then comes the ending where he bites his Dad, meaning they are now a werewolf family.
  • Continuity Nod: Aaron mentions that some werewolf stories feature people becoming werewolves by putting on wolf skins, a possible reference to Werewolf Skin.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The tooth necklace is an odd example. It's established to have magic powers but those powers never come into play after they are introduced. However, the tooth itself is used as it's how Aaron's can tell it is him when he is in werewolf mode.
  • Darker and Edgier: Some of what Aaron does is fairly dark, such as eating his friend's dog. There's also the scene where he discovers his clothes covered in blood.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: Mr. Fredius is a werewolf hunter who is so hellbent on capturing a werewolf that he accuses a seemingly innocent of being one, to the point where he kidnaps him and plans to merchandise the hell out of it in his quest to prove werewolves are real. Eventually he realizes what he's become and apologizes.
  • Hunter of Monsters: Aaron's father strives to be a werewolf hunter, but at the start of the book has yet to find one and he is considered a laughing stock for it.
  • Hunter Trapper: Ben Grantley, the supposed werewolf, is mentioned as being a fur trapper.
  • Missing Mom: Aaron's mom died two years prior to the events of the book.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: The werewolves have to pass on a necklace that has magical powers. It's also mentioned that saying a werewolf's real name can transform them back, but it's never revealed if this is true or not.
  • Ruritania: Bratvia, an Eastern European country claimed to have werewolves in its forests.
