Go To

Andie has hated the equestrian girls at Bristel Academy since she got there, especially since they happened to come into Andie’s life right when she was having the worst year ever. Once she got to Gingham School of the Arts, she thought that she was done with them. But when Reba, former leader of the Bristel equestrians, shows up at Gingham, Andie decides to form a horse-riding team out of the seven least capable girls at her school. But as memories of her crappy year, and who she lost because of it, resurface, can Andie still show Reba- and her old self- who’s boss?

At least, that's the official blurb. This is a weekly updated novel on Wattpad.

This work provides examples of:

  • A Boy, a Girl, and a Baby Family: Subverted: The Hartman family was this, with Andrea, Isaiah and little Ava, and then Isaiah died and Ava got older.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Andie. While she has attraction to men and eventually gets with Otto,, she has a LOT of Les Yay subtext with Izzy despite them being just friends. Also Isaiah- while he enjoys pretty things and is more sensitive than most males his age, it's mentioned in The Unlikelies and The Remnants that he's had a crush on Alaska Lin for a while.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Downplayed with Isaiah- he got on Andie's nerves at times, but for the most part they got along very well. Played straight with Ava, who does things like yell about her poo being shaped like a banana or set Andie's clock radio to play "Let It Go" to wake her up.
  • Babies Ever After: At the end of the final book in the series, it is revealed that Andie has two children- Finley and Rylen.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Andie's relationship with Izzy is ruined forever, nor is she any better at horseback riding, and Marshall never returns, but she's getting help for her CG and she has some friendships that will last a long time.
  • Children Are Innocent: Ava is only six, and she's very innocent.
  • Dead Guy Junior: Downplayed with Finley, whose middle name is Isaiah.
  • Disappeared Dad: Marshall, who left about 8 months pre-book.
  • Everybody Knew Already: Downplayed- everyone didn't know about Andie's past, but Little sure did- her cousin, Guthrie, was a close friend of Isaiah, and so she was very well aware of all the goings-on in Crapsville.
  • Excessive Mourning: Reconstructed with Andie- she's still having severe grief reactions after 2 years, and so she eventually gets help.
  • Is That What He Told You??: It's Little who finally reveals Izzy's secret to Andie. Izzy's been lying about it the ENTIRE TIME.
  • Jerkass: Reba. She bullies Andie and teases Mischa and Little, is constantly blackmailing Izzy with her secret, and doesn't have the best attitude towards service workers.
  • Keeping Secrets Sucks: Izzy absolutely hates hiding her secret from Andie as shown in book 2, The Light That Isn't There, but she has to or Andie will hate her. Mission totally failed, Izzy.
  • Last-Name Basis: Andie and Watson. Played for drama with Andie, who exclusively calls Isaiah Watson "Watson" because she hates his first name, due to it being the name of her dead brother. Downplayed with Watson, who calls her "Hartwoman" a play on her last name, Hartman.
  • Mocking the Mourner: Reba does this to Andie quite a lot, the most notable example being, "Get over it already! Isaiah's dead! My sister killed him! And I can't say I'm not with my sister on this one!"
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted- Andie's dead little brother is named Isaiah, and so is her teammate. (However, she calls him by his last name, Watson). Played for Drama- every time someone calls Watson by his first name, she is painfully reminded of Isaiah.
  • Plot Twist: After the events of February fifteenth (2030) ]Andie begins to suspect that Izzy may be keeping something from her. She asks Little about it, and plot twist- Izzy helped Anya kill Isaiah.
  • Practically Different Generations: Ava and Andie- at the time of the book, Andie's sixteen and Ava's only six.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The Unlikelies are this- Little's shy and has a stutter, Mischa's the fattest girl in school, Melina is mute, Izzy is a bad girl who failed school, Alicia's scared of most everything, Kaci has cancer, Watson's a boy and not expected to be on an equestrian team, and none of them have many friends.
  • Stepford Smiler: Andie's mother Deena, who acts perky and bright even though she's still very much grieving Isaiah.
  • Trauma Button: Andie has a lot of these. There are minor ones, like Watson and pesto tortellini, and major ones, like snow and running, but they all take her back to Isaiah's death.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Downplayed. Andie is bullied at Bristel Academy, then her little brother dies, then her dad leaves. Also partially justified- while the bullying had nothing to do with the other events, Marshall only leaves because Isaiah dies.
