The Man Who Fell Into The Black Inferno is an ebook by Wendell Darnell Mitchell, II published November 2015. It is the first of the four Black Inferno books and part of the larger Faith, Family, and Fighting series.

John Jason Kennedy is a man of considerable talents. He is also the first normal human to be burned by the Black Inferno and live. In his quest to learn how to control this destructive power, he establishes a working relationship with supernatural law enforcement agency H.O.R.U.S. and fights against several factions that want to either use him as a weapon or kill him before he can master the Dark Flame.

  • Action Girl: Agent Shay Williams is Hansen's go to for field operations. Malakai Johnson learns the hard way when the 5'6" powerhouse tosses him threw a door and into a swimming pool.
  • Another Story for Another Time: Shay and Kennedy's first meeting in the book

  • Arbitrarily Large Bank Account: H.O.R.U.S. An agency that keeps tabs on the super powered individuals, has warehouses in at least two states, and as Hansen tells Julius Martin "all the tech your little heart desires" yet no mention of where the funds originate.
  • Back to School: All three of Elisa De La Luna's Servants are forced to go to the Institute for Studies In the Supernatural because her father said so.
  • Breaking the Bonds: Angelica Simpson does this twice.
  • Casual Danger Dialog: Most of Kennedy's dialog occurs before or during his fights.
  • Cityof Adventure: Most of the fights in the book take place either in Miami or Atlanta.
  • Dark Action Girl: Vanity to an extent since she isn't part of H.O.R.U.S or Kennedy's group. Valencia full stop.
  • Death Glare: Roberto Alanno gives one to a mook. The mook drops his gun and knocks over one of his allies while trying to flee. H.O.R.U.S. Agent Shay Williams is fond of directing them at Kennedy when he doesn't treat a situation seriously enough.
  • Dance of Romance: Part of Kennedy and Shay's undercover operation.
  • Extranormal Institute: the Institute for Studies In the Supernatural.
  • Flirting Under Fire: During his fight with Lucious Malloy, Kennedy is punched across the room. When Shay checks on him, he kisses her.
  • For Science!: During his first conversation with Hansen, Julius implies that Nyota implants were developed for this reason. He then accepts a job with Hansen simply to have access to all of H.O.R.U.S.'s tech.
  • Good Night, Sweet Prince: Kennedy tells Robert this simply because he likes the way it sounds.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: One of the benefits for a person who can control the Black Inferno.
  • I'll Kill You!:
Malcolm: Let’s go Vanity.

Malcolm: Now.
