Part of the Random Powers series.

"The Man who Controlled Metal" contains examples of:

  • The Alcoholic: Bert the mugger. He even says, when asked if he'd give alcohol up; "Why should I?"
  • All There in the Manual: The title states that Alec can control metal, but that's not even implied in the story. For all the reader knows, Alec might be using telekinesis, magic or even the Force.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Bert needs a change of underwear, after Alec scares him so badly he pees himself. To be fair, he thought he was about to be killed.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: Alec, who can control metal.
  • Mugging the Monster: What Bert inadvertently does by trying to pull his shtick on Alec.
