Daiki Morishita was once an ordinary, wimpy high school student until he was summoned to a fantasy world as its hero to defeat the Demon Lord and restore peace to the land. His journey was long and hard-fought, but he succeeded and was hailed as the savior of the land. But for all his new powers and glory, he still wanted to go home. After saying his goodbyes to his friends and allies, he's transported back to the same day he left. To his surprise, he's kept all of his superpowers from his otherworldly adventure. Pleased with this, he decides to use his abilities to live his ideal high school life.

But Morishita's world may not be as normal as he thinks. After chance encounters with his Tsundere senpai and a strange foreign exchange student, he finds that adventure can be found close to home.

The Hero Who Returned Remains the Strongest in the Modern World is a light novel written by Arata Shiraishi with art drawn by Takayaki. It follows Morishita has he readjusts to life at home that isn't as ordinary as he thought. The novel was adapted to manga in 2019, running on the digital-only platform Manga Up!.

• Absurd Cutting Power: Morishita's Sword Arts apply this to anything remotely sword-shaped in his hands. A baseball bat can deliver a Clean Cut to a baseball, though it's apparently not enough to cut through the Nine-Tailed Fox, a ghost feared as a Physical God by his world's standards, simply smacking him like a typical blunt weapon.
• Abusive Parents: Abeno's parents are crack dealers to fund their lavish lifestyle and are happy to sacrifice Abeno to the fox and actively sabotage her efforts to avoid being sacrificed because her older sister scored a lucrative political marriage to a member of the main Abeno family. Their only "sympathy" for her consists of handing her a bottle of heroin to dull her sense of pain for when she's Eaten Alive.
• The Ace: Morishita is an unmatched physical and magical powerhouse who defeated the Demon Lord that far surpasses anything on his home world. High-level monsters that the Abeno family and the Vatican won't go near go down in a single punch from him, and even a ghost feared as a Physical God is handily curb-stomped by him. The only reason why the fox didn't die sooner is because Morishita was wary of the fox's "god" title due to the power of the goddess who brought him to the other world.
• Achievements in Ignorance: In the middle of his first texting session to Abeno, Morishita is baffled by how his Lethal Curse Resistance skill keeps proccing and tells it to go away. Unbeknownst to him, it'd had been protecting him from the mental attack shikigami she had been sending his way, and he unwittingly demonstrated the gulf between their powers in the process.
• Action Girl: Abeno and Lela are both experienced monster hunters who are more than capable of handling themselves. Abeno in particular gets a power boost following a triple level up from the orc Morishita had her fight.
• Always Someone Better: For all his power, Morishita admits that he still can't hold a candle to the goddess who brought him over to the other world in the first place, and is initially wary of the Nine-Tailed Fox due to his title as a malevolent god. Once it becomes clear that the fox, for all its power, is only about as strong as the Princess, Morishita cuts loose and starts knocking teeth out.
• Aren't You Going to Ravish Me?: When Morishita takes Abeno up to the roof of their school alone, she instantly comes to the conclusion that he plans to rape her. She first tries to use her Dangerous Forbidden Technique on him, only for it to fizzle out against his Lethal Curse Resistance. She then gives up and begins stripping to his confusion, as he'd brought her up there to help her level up.
• Arbitrary Skepticism: After eavesdropping on Abeno and Lela and hearing about their clearly supernatural activities, Morishita initially tries to write this off as chuunibyou despite being sent to another world and gifted with tons of awesome powers himself (in no small part due to his desire to live a normal life). It's not until he comes across an earth spider and Abeno in action does he take their conversation seriously, but even then he initially tries to rationalize it as a weird new species of spider.
• Asshole Victim:
  • After Morishita kills the Nine-Tailed Fox, Abeno is freed from her obligations to the Abeno family and cheerfully robs them blind with the skills Morishita helped her obtain to fund herself. This includes stealing some expensive tea and selling off some her family's ultra-high quality Muramasa and Masamune blades to fund her stay in an apartment penthouse. Given how her parents and sister are crack dealers who are overjoyed at the thought of Abeno being sacrificed to the fox, it's hard to feel bad for them after they're forced to work for a pittance on a remote island by the Abeno main family.
  • Abeno later tortures the head of a branch of the yakuza to learn where his stash of money is to take for herself. While the torture is horrifically painful and leaves him a twitching, frothing mess, this same guy threatened Murayama's family for money after their father committed suicide because of his debts. They later extort another 500 million yen from the boss of the entire organization.
• Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Morishita, Abeno, and Lela are hardly ordinary friends, and more often than not they get on each other's nerves and even attack one another. But when Abeno and Lela are nearly killed by the Nine-Tailed Fox, Morishita arrives in a nick of time to rescue them and declares that he'll kick the fox's ass for daring to make his friends cry. He then refers to them as his friends for the rest of the fight.
• Batter Up!: Because of the massive collateral damage that using Excalibur would cause, Morishita tends to use his Sword Arts through a baseball bat, which is still more than enough to annihilate most monsters. He's impressed when the Nine-Tailed Fox manages to take a hit from him despite this.
• Bizarre Taste in Food: Morishita notes that the food in the other world isn't exactly to his tastes despite showing images of what looks like perfectly ordinary and delicious-looking bread, soups, meats, and salads. When Abeno and Lela visit his house, it's quickly revealed that Morishita and his mom love acidic food so much that they pour hydrochloric and sulfuric acid all over their yakisoba, and their chili shrimp is coated in "Death Sauce". The Morishitas are genuinely perplexed when Abeno and Lela fail to eat anything.
• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Abeno has a reputation as a cool beauty with high morals and a lady-like personality. In truth, Abeno is rude, coarse, condescending, and pragmatic. The sheer cognitive dissonance Morishita feels after she gives him a verbal beating is enough to trigger his Mental Resistance skill as though he'd been subject to a Mind Rape attack.
• Brick Joke: Abeno says Morishita smells like "foul kitchen waste vomit", it's easy to write off as typical schoolyard insult. It's later revealed that he smells like kitchen waste vomit because he and his mom pour hydrochloric and sulfuric acid over their food for the acidic flavor.
• Buxom Beauty Standard:
  • Morishita explicitly prefers girls with a huge rack. When Abeno attempts to access his heart to see what he was hiding, she's immediately assailed by his thoughts of getting together with her and having fun with big-breasted shrine maidens.
  • While both Abeno and Lela are proud of their looks, Abeno hangs the fact that she's taller, more buxom, and has a much more developed butt than Lela over her head when Ms. Morishita has them all bathe together.
• But Not Too Foreign: Lela Sakaguchi is of Finnish, French, Russian, and Japanese descent, but lived in Italy for most of her life before moving back to Japan.
• Can't Spit It Out: The Princess who summoned Morishita ultimately falls in love with him, but can't bring herself to spit it out and sour his departure home. She immediately regrets it and breaks down in tears over how she wants him back once he leaves.
• Cloudcuckoolander: Abeno's completely barren social life has left her with some really weird thought processes. Her first idea to make money after leaving her family behind is to work as a prostitute... but first tries to get Morishita to sell his body so she can start working price negotiations first. He straight up asks her if she's gone bonkers, and her response to him telling her not to sell herself short is to proudly declare that she won't sell herself for anything less than a 100,000 yen.
• Chainmail Bikini: Lela's Dominion uniform consists of a sports bra over a skirt and leg armor. It's somewhat justified by the fact that her wings need room to grow, but it doesn't explain the rest of her being uncovered.
• Chekhov's Skill: While introducing himself to Abeno over text, Morishita mentions that his dad works at a credit union. So when yakuza threaten Murayama to force her to pay up the debts left behind by her deceased father, Morishita quickly explains that she's under no legal obligation to pay them back. The yakuza simply threatened her family and made her panic to get her to believe that she owed them rather than letting her seek out actual legal and financial counsel.
• Chivalrous Pervert: Morishita is a Hormone-Addled Teenager who loves staring at girl's breasts and leaps at the opportunity to have a date with a busty girl like Abeno or Murayama. Although he immediately wants to dump her after realizing what a weirdo she is, he understands how much their relationship means to her and rushes to rescue her from certain doom despite getting his dream date. He's also Above the Influence and is more repulsed than attracted by Abeno's sudden telephone sex and refuses to have sex with her when they only barely know one another.
• Chronic Hero Syndrome: Despite Morishita's desire for a normal life, his adventures in the other world instilled in him a desire to protect the pride and honor he received as the hero of that world. So he ends up rushing to find and rescue Abeno after he gets her goodbye text in the middle of his dream date.
• Church Militant: Lela is a member of Dominion, a group of assassins who go all over the world unannounced to kill ghosts and monsters in the name of God and at the command of the Pope.
• Cool Sword: Morishita possesses Excalibur, a sword so powerful that even a fraction of its power is enough to wipe most monsters from the other world off the map.
• Combo Platter Powers: Morishita's array of skills and magical abilities make him a Lightning Bruiser Flying Brick in addition to having healing powers, memory manipulation powers, a convenient Hammerspace, Stat-O-Vision, more than one Kamehame Hadouken, the ability to seal off areas of space to prevent others from the outside from listening in, among other things.
• Curb-Stomp Battle: Due to his overwhelming power, Morishita never actually struggles in his fights. As a result, most fights that last longer than a single hit only last as long as they do because of him being overly cautious.
• Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Abeno's "Final Purpose: God-Sealing Flaming Palm Killer" is presumably an extremely powerful technique that comes at the cost of what is implied to be her life. However, it never goes off, as Morishita easily kills an earth spider with one punch the first time while his Lethal Curse Resistance instantly nullifies it when she uses it against him in a fit of rage.
• Deconstructive Parody:
  • Abeno is one of the archetypical Tsundere. She treats Morishita like dirt at first, insulting him repeatedly to his face and hoping to never see his face again until he realizes the immense power he's hiding. It also becomes blatantly clear that Abeno's Alpha Bitch personality is genuine, but it's also deprived her of a proper social life. Because of this, she's completely clueless socially and jumps at the opportunity to become message buddies with Morishita, quickly escalating to phone sex to his disgust and bewilderment. Morishita ends up more annoyed with her antics than anything, but in the few moments where she's being 100% sincere and thankful to him, he and the audience can see that she's beautiful and is genuinely in love with him.
  • Lela is one to the Foreign Exchange Student. Lela is a Finnish-French-Russian-Japanese exchange student who quickly becomes the talk of the class due to her exotic looks and eccentric personality. But it's obvious that she has no idea how to conduct herself in proper Japanese society due to hopping all over the world as a Church Militant monster assassin for the Vatican. Because of this, she derives all of her knowledge of Japan from anime, and makes of show of having people bend a knee to her the way they do on TV. Morishita finds her calling him "Master" for outclassing her so badly more exhausting than anything and her loud, haughty personality doesn't win her any points with the equally proud Abeno.
• Does Not Know His Own Strength: Morishita accidentally twists off the doorknob of a hotel room while cornering the yakuza don who threatened Murayama's family.
• Dude, Where's My Respect?: Despite being a Physical God orders of magnitude more powerful than Abeno or Lela, Morishita gets nagged and bossed around by their forceful personalities. This continues even after he saves both of their lives, as he accidentally sabotaged their goal of extorting a huge amount of money out of the yakuza don they had been threatening by calling the police on him.
• Entertainingly Wrong: Due to his Wrong Context Magic, Abeno comes to numerous erroneous conclusions about Morishita, such as him being an exorcist of a caliber far exceeding hers or that he wants to be friends with her as the first other superhero he's met. These wrong ideas don't get corrected until he easily kills an Earth Spider and the two sit down to talk.
• Exact Eavesdropping: Morishita conveniently manages to run across Lela while she's talking to her superiors from the Vatican on the phone, managing to listen into her conversation with his All-Hearing Ears of Hell skill.
• Experienced Protagonist: The story follows Morishita after his adventures in another world that turn him into a Physical God in his own world. In addition, both Abeno and Lela are experienced monster hunters, albeit at a level far below Morishita's.
• Fate Worse than Death: After an escaped fugitive holds his classmates at gunpoint, Morishita traps the fugitive in a never-ending illusion where he's attacked by horrible Eldritch Abominations that will haunt the man for the rest of his life.
• Flipping the Bird: After obliterating the Nine-Tailed Fox with Tall Hunter, he declares that the fox's final attack would have only hurt as much as him jabbing his pinky finger into the corner of the table before flipping his middle finger as a final "screw you" to the alleged Physical God.
• Flying Brick: Morishita can fly at Mach 2, casually stop bullets, and shatters concrete with his bare hands even without invoking most of his powerful skills. Even the Nine-Tailed Fox feared as a Physical God by the Abeno family can't leave a scratch on him.
• Formula with a Twist: You've seen a lot of these tropes before. Overpowered Stock Light-Novel Hero who gets surrounded by beautiful girls and ends up saving the day to their amazement. The story itself relies on these conventions to twist them for comedy. For instance, the Tsundere Abeno has No Social Skills and no friends because of her bitchy personality. She does have a soft spot for Morishita for saving her life, but the mixed messages make her forward advances come across as weird rather than arousing to Morishita.
• Good Thing You Can Heal: As part of her duties as a Dominion, Lela possesses a Healing Factor that lets her recover from most wounds easily. Because of this, she loses an eye for a day after a bad encounter with an earth spider, which contributes to Morishita's assumption that she's just someone with chuunibyou when she walks into school with an eyepatch the next day. She is later shot by yakuza, complaining how much it hurts and how she's running out of school uniforms before kicking the guy's ass.
• Good Parents: Although Morishita's father isn't seen, the story makes clear that Morishita has a great relationship with both of his parents and the thought of not being able to eat his mom's curry again is enough to motivate him to go home after all despite the power, fame, and the friends he's gained as the hero.
• Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Morishita tends to solve most of his problems with his fists due to his overwhelming power, while Abeno prefers to use her talisman magic. Also downplayed, as Morishita is more than capable of using powerful, long-range magic, he just limits himself to avoid collateral.
• Hollywood Acid: The sulfuric acid that runs off Ms. Morishita's yakisoba hits the wooden tables and sizzles.
• Hypocrite: Abeno sneers when Morishita asks if she has any love for her family, calling them crackheads who prey on the weak... despite the fact that she lived like them until only recently.
• Hypocritical Heartwarming: When Abeno is condemned to be the sacrifice for the Nine-Tailed Fox, Lela ends up rushing to her aid, declaring that Abeno can't die so long as she still owes a debt to her.
• I Just Want to Be Normal: After risking his life in another world as a hero, Morishita is ready to settle down and live a normal, peaceful life at home. Unfortunately for him, he runs into Abeno and Lela, who end up denying that halcyon school life with their supernatural problems.
• In Medias Res: The sotry's prologue opens with Morishita fleeing from the bullies beating on him for fun before being summoned to the other world. The story then cuts to the final battle between him and the Demon Lord where he eventually wins.
• Instant Runes: A magical array of runes instantly appears in Morishita's hands whenever he's using magic.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Abeno is an Alpha Bitch who sneers at those she considers beneath her, calling Morishita "Shitmori" and telling him that she never wants to see him again. But after they become "message buddies", Abeno soon grows to genuinely care about him amidst the insults and falls in love with him after he ends up saving her life by helping her level up. Because of this, she refuses to get him personally involved with her affairs and considers it unfair to risk someone else's life for the sake of her own.
• Kamehame Hadouken: Morishita's Thor's Hammer and Tall Hunter spells fire off a beam of incredibly destructive energy from his palm, the former being a blast of lightning energy powerful enough to cause earthquakes and the latter detonating anything within its path for 200 meters.
• Katanas Are Just Better: Abeno initially uses a short sword in combat, but after robbing her family and cutting ties with them, she uses one of the katanas she pilfered from then on. It's sharp enough to Clean Cut firearms and she has no issues using the back of the sword to easily incapacitate entire squads of armed goons.
• Laser-Guided Amnesia: Morishita's memory magic allows him to erase other's memories of certain events, though lasting trauma can persist even if the affected person doesn't understand the root cause.
• Lethal Chef: Morishita's mother pours in hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid as the "secret ingredient" in her yakisoba and curry and pours "Death Sauce" all over her chili shrimp. Abeno and Lela find themselves unable to eat anything because of poisonous it is, but Morishita and his mom don't understand what's wrong. Lampshaded by Abeno's and Lela's inner monologue.
  Abeno: [tongue burning from sulfuric acid] This is what they call a crappy meal... Just as I was thinking it's something fictional you see in light novels or anime... to think it really existed...
  Lela: This is an extremely crappy meal that has actual poison added to it...
• Male Gaze: Numerous panels are drawn to call attention to a girl's breasts, butt, or thighs, reflecting Morishita's Chivalrous Pervert personality.
• Master of All: The sheer number of levels Morishita has over everyone means that while he primarily specced in physical stats and raw magical power, he's better than basically everyone in his home world at virtually everything. He's stronger, faster, and tougher than those feared as Physical Gods and supplements his raw power with an array of magic ranging from healing to memory manipulation to a Spider-Sense to keep himself from being caught off guard.
• Mundane Utility: Morishita's powers generally improve his daily life when they go off at the right time. For instance, Abeno's string of insults for him hurts, but Mental Resistance reduces their effect on his mind, which makes him feel better. Farsight is also helpful when he wants to see what's happening or stare at a girl's breasts. His Item Box is also helpful for carrying everything from weapons to food to monsters.
• Ms. Fanservice: Abeno's lack of social skills means that she's utterly shameless about her looks. The panels often call attention to her boobs and butt, and she's happy to give Morishita telephone sex as thanks for the level up.
• Mugging the Monster: Morishita returns to his world with all of his powers intact, Flying Brick powers included. Because of this, he initially lets his old bullies whale on him (not that he feels it) to avoid an incident before calling the teachers on them in hopes that they'll leave him alone. But when they hold him at knifepoint to kidnap him that evening, he snaps and quickly beats the snot out of all of them.
• Mum Looks Like a Sister: Morishita's mom is so petite and youthful-looking that Abeno and Lela immediately assume that she's his little sister rather than his mom.
• Muscles Are Meaningless: Zigzagged. Morishita's current baseline is already far beyond any normal human thanks to the strength he gained as a hero in another world. As a result, he can easily beat up his old bullies despite retaining his old scrawny physique after deactivating all of his skills. But after using Enhance Physical Ability, his muscles grow considerably into a more proper Heroic Build, multiplying his Super-Strength manifold in the process.
• Never Be Hurt Again: Abeno developed her Alpha Bitch personality out of a desire to keep herself from being hurt again because of her abusive home life. She desires a normal life like Morishita, but feels too entrenched in the supernatural to stop, and her continual use of the bitchy persona and her lack of social skills has left her friendless and desperate for affection.
• Nice Guy: His Chivalrous Pervert tendencies aside, Morishita prides himself on his actions as a hero and will go out of his way to help someone in trouble if he can help it. Despite wanting to dump Abeno and Lela as soon as possible, he ends up humoring them and treasuring them as friends while helping them with their problems at no benefit to himself.
• Nigh-Invulnerability: Nothing in Morishita's world is able to do real harm to him. His old bullies break their arms punching him, a metal bat bends like a bicycle wrapped around a telephone pole, and even a powerful demon feared by the Abeno family as a Physical God only manages to slightly tear his clothes. Even the Nine-Tailed Fox's Desperation Attack would have only hurt as much as him jabbing his pinky into the corner of a table. On a more humorous note, his mother's downright poisonous cooking is delicious to him even though Abeno and Lela are screaming in pain from the Hollywood Acid and Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce added to it.
• No Name Given: The story doesn't give the names of Morishita's party members, only referring to them as the Princess and the Great Magician.
• Nosebleed: Blood shoots out of Morishita's nose when Murayama begins cuddling with him during their date, especially when she takes him by the arm and presses her chest against him.
• No Social Skills: Abeno has never had any friends before and is overjoyed to become Morishita's message buddy. She sends him more than 1,600 messages in a single day, and quickly escalates to phone sex and sending nudes to his embarrassment and disgust. She also rubs the fact that she has a "fuck buddy" in Lela's face, and is crestfallen when he informs her that he does not consent to this before turning violently possessive when Lela crashes what Abeno wanted to be a personal visit to the Morishita home. To Abeno, all of these things are showings of her affection and thankfulness to Morishita, but they come across so poorly they just make her look like a creep.
• Not the Fall That Kills You…: Even though Morishita catches his bully Murashima after throwing him so far that he's a Twinkle in the Sky, Murashima still breaks every bone in his body. Morishita ends up applying his healing magic to fix Murashima so he doesn't die, but the experience still traumatizes Murashima enough that he's left with an instinctive fear of Morishita even after Morishita wipes Murashima's memories of the incident.
• Oblivious to Love: Morishita is oblivious to the princess' affections for him, and ultimately he never learns about them because she Can't Spit It Out out of fear of souring his departure home. He's much more aware of Abeno's incredibly forward advances on him given how quickly she escalates their relationship to telephone sex, but he doesn't get that she likes him romantically until she spells it out for him.
• Overshadowed by Awesome: While Morishita dwarfs pretty much everyone else in the story by a wide margin in the sheer number and scale of his powers, but that's not to say that Abeno or Lela are weak by his world's standards. In fact, he estimates that Abeno could easily take a thousand men if she were born in the Sengoku period, and she casually dismantles an entire branch of the yakuza armed with guns with ease, not even going through the effort of killing them.
• Person of Mass Destruction: Morishita is a Flying Brick with ridiculous Super-Strength along with the ability to produce magical attacks compared to nukes in terms of area of effect and power. The shockwaves of his attacks are compared to earthquakes and his Tall Hunter attack instantly detonates anything in a 200 m radius of his target. Lampshaded by Morishita himself, who worries that he might be treated as a Demon Lord himself if his abilities ever came to light.
• Physical God:
  • Morishita is nigh-invincible in his home world, as monsters feared as next to impossible to beat would be considered small fry for beginner adventurers in the other world. The sheer power, range, and variety of his abilities shocks anyone who witnesses them, and he says that he could do whatever he wanted if he felt like it.
  • The Nine-Tailed Fox is feared as one in Morishita's world, possessing physical and magical power outstripping the Vatican and the Abeno family put together. His "Impenetrable Circle" supposedly repels all physical and magical attacks, and he has slaughtered entire armies of fighters in the past. Unfortunately for the Fox, Morishita notes that he's seen all of the Fox's tricks in the past, and the Fox himself is only about as strong as the Princess from his old party. Cue Curb-Stomp Battle.
• Post-Adventure Adventure: Morishita begins the story as a Stock Light-Novel Hero Trapped in Another World who returns home after defeating the Big Bad, eager to enjoy the comforts of his old life and regaining his youth as an Ordinary High-School Student. To his surprise, he retains all of his Combo Platter Powers as the hero of the other world, which he intends to use to live a comfortable, stress-free life, only to find that home isn't quite as ordinary as he thought it was.
• Power Incontinence: The countless passive skills that Morishita stacked up over the course of his adventures tend to activate when they're applicable rather than when he wants them to. While trying out for the baseball team, his Sword Arts skill instantly activates, turning the baseball bat into a holy sword that slices the baseball in half. Because of this, he shelves his goal of becoming a Koshien baseball star because any bat in his hands is treated like a sword.
• Pragmatic Hero: Abeno and Lela boil down to this. They both act as "superheroes" killing monsters that would prey on unwary civilians, but neither of them are in it for any altruistic purpose. Abeno kills monsters in hopes of avoiding becoming the sacrifice to the Nine-Tailed Fox, while Lela does it in the name of God and expanding the church's power. Murder, extortion, torture, and theft are not off the table for either of them (and perfectly legal so long as The Masquerade is maintained), but they come off as A Lighter Shade of Black thanks to generally killing mindless beasts and even worse people like yakuza.
• Puppy-Dog Eyes: Morishita's mom is hurt when Abeno and Lela don't like her food, giving them both puppy dog eyes that pressure them into eating her lethally acidic and spicy dishes.
• Proud Beauty: Both Abeno and Lela are proud of their good looks, but the two quickly get into an argument over their figures, especially since Abeno is much more buxom than Lela is in the front and the back.
• Public Domain Artifact: The hero's sword from the other world is none other than Excalibur. Even barely replicating its effects with a baseball bat is enough to wipe most monsters off the face of the earth.
• Razor Wind: Morishita's Vacuum Cut slices everything along the path of his sword (or bat) swing into pieces with a gust of wind. The "Type Zero" version has even wider area of effect. cutting apart all the earth spiders around him.
• Rescue Romance: Abeno falls in love with Morishita after he kills the Nine-Tailed Fox, saving her life in the process. Because of this, she's willing to ask him straight up if he wants to have sex a few days later, but he quickly tells her to slow down and that they barely know each other.
• Sarcastic Confession: After beating the crap out of his old bullies with his new powers, Morishita gets asked where he got this strength from. He flatly tells them that he went to another world, but they're so hysterical and the truth is so strange that they don't believe him even after he throws Murashita into the distance.
• Showy Invincible Hero: As the title implies, none of the supernatural things in the modern world can really challenge Morishita due to how much time he spent stacking skill and stat bonuses. But since he's so spectacularly powerful, his finds generally end up comically one-sided than boring.
• Skilled, but Naive: Morishita is nigh-unstoppable in a fight, but he's ultimately a Nice Guy who'd much rather settle a fight peacefully, giving his opponents multiple chances to surrender. The Great Magician chastised him for this, as the Demon Lord's Elite Four used this to try and sneak attack him. He also doesn't think twice when Abeno gives him her email address immediately after she stung him with a string of verbal insults.
• Spider-Sense: Morishita possesses the Danger Detection skill, which alerts him whenever someone is attacking him or intends to attack him. While he won't always know the source of the danger, he'll know to get ready to defend himself no matter what his opponents try.
• Stock Light-Novel Hero: Morishita has all the trappings of one. He has dark hair, is an Ordinary High-School Student Trapped in Another World, soft facial features, and is a Showy Invincible Hero. A lot of the humor of the story comes from him trying to use these powers as perks while living a normal life, only to run headlong into more supernatural situations than he'd care to deal with. Despite this, his personality quirks, such as his Bizarre Taste in Food, move him farther away from The Everyman version of this trope as the story goes on.
• Summon Everyman Hero: Morishita was an Ordinary High-School Student fleeing from bullies until he's summoned by the Princess with the help of the other world's goddess of reincarnation to save it from the Demon Lord.
• Super-Senses: Night vision is one of Morishita's skills, letting him see perfectly in the dark.
• Temporary Bulk Change: Morishita's Enhance Physical Ability skill multiplies his Super-Strength several times over, with the side effect of increasing the size of his muscles to the point that his school uniform is forcibly unbuttoned and the sleeves are stretched taut against his biceps and shoulders.
• "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Abeno gives this to Murayama, mocking her for being weak enough to be threatened by yakuza and not having the composure or knowledge to realize that she is under no obligation to pay back her father's debts to them. Morishita tries to soften the blow, but Murayama admits she has a point, but doesn't know what she can do to fight back with the yakuza threatening her family. Luckily for her, she has three overpowered badasses for classmates who are more than willing to punch some gangsters in the face.
• There's No Kill like Overkill: While fighting the Nine-Tailed Fox, Morishita decides to go all-out, activating all his skills for status buffs up to "Dragonic Spirit, "God of War", and "Unstoppable Force". Though he stops short when "Nuclear Blessing", "Quantum Decomposition", and "Absolute Destruction" activate. Even then, it's more than enough to shatter the fox's so-called "impenetrable barrier" and he later finishes him with a Kamehame Hadouken that blows up everything in 200 meters.
  Morishita: No no... you don't need to get so overkill...
• Thicker Than Water: Subverted. When Morishita asks if Abeno has any love for her family, she scoffs at him, telling her that her returning is more likely to end with people dead than anything. She later robs them blind with the help of the skills Morishita helped her obtain and is ecstatic at the punishment her family received from the main branch. Her only regret is that they their punishment wasn't worse.
• Toilet Humor: When forced to choose between Ms. Morishita's poisonously acidic yakisoba seasoned with sulfuric acid and her somewhat edible but hellishly spicy chili shrimp, Lela admits that she has hemorrhoids at the dinner table.
• Token Good Teammate: Morishita is the one with the strongest moral compass of the team of superheroes consisting of him, Abeno and Lela, calling the police on the yakuza rather than trying to frisk them for cash the way Abeno and Lela wanted to. When Abeno and Lela get the money anyways, he tells them to give his cut to Murayama's family to help them pay their bills after her father committed suicide.
• Took a Level in Badass:
  • Thanks to the unknown amount of time that Morishita spent in the other world, he's gone from crybaby weakling to a One-Man Army Person of Mass Destruction who is virtually invincible in his home world. The Princess and Great Magician lampshade this, reminiscing about how helpless he was at the beginning before ultimately saving the world, while Morishita himself is embarrassed by how he used to be.
  • After Morishita helps her level up, Abeno goes from being the worst of her family to being so strong that the rest of her family has to sabotage her to prevent her from avoiding her fate as the Nine-Tailed Fox's sacrifice. She kills several earth spiders that she was willing to use her Dangerous Forbidden Technique on with Lela's help, and Morishita estimates that she's as strong as a thousand armed soldiers from the Sengoku period.
• Wake Up, Go to School & Save the World: Both Abeno and Lela masquerade as Ordinary High School Students when they're in fact superheroes by night who use magical powers to kill monsters that threaten the populace, albeit not for entirely altruistic reasons.
• Wham Line: Lela has one of these when she realizes that Morishita really did get his powers from another world, as he's the same hero and "big brother" who once helped her there.
• What You Are in the Dark:
  • Morishita outright says that his powers could let him do whatever he wants. So when he runs into his old bullies again, he ends up throwing Murashita into the distance until he's a Twinkle in the Sky. There's nothing anyone could do about it and no one could possibly trace their impending deaths back to him. But ultimately, his pride as a hero in another world and the guilt he'd feel over killing his classmates wins out, so he ends up saving them before wiping their memories of the incident.
  • It happens again when he gets Abeno's goodbye text as she walks to her death. Even though they barely know each other aside from her message buddy antics, his pride as a hero once again kicks in even though no one would begrudge him for not getting there in time to save her. In the end, he ends up dumping his dream date to go rescue Abeno.
• When She Smiles: Abeno proud, domineering personality makes it hard to appreciate her beauty, especially when she's busying acting snobbishly toward everyone. But her smile is so beautiful that Morishita says it should be outright illegal.
• With Great Power Comes Great Perks: After saving the other world, Morishita is determined to use his powers to make his life easier, initially trying to become a baseball star with his Super-Strength, Super-Speed, and Super-Reflexes. Unfortunately for him, his Sword Arts skill prevents him from using a bat as anything but a sword, so he has give up on his childhood dream of reaching Koshien (the Japanese high school equivalent of the World Series). He doesn't mind at all when Farsight kicks in to give him a good look at Abeno's breasts though.
