Literature / The Hawk And His Boy

Go To

It was a simple job, or as simple as any jobs were for the Thieves Guild. Jute just had to break into a wizard's house and steal an old wooden box. Should have been simple enough for the young thief. However, within the box is the dagger which killed The Wind, unbeknownst to the young boy. Driven by curiosity at the visions he sees, he ends up opening the box and pricking his finger on the dagger before continuing on with his mission. That slip though caused Jute to becomethe Wind, and with the help of his new hawk friend, a wizard, and a regretful assassin, he shall have to learn how to use his newfound powers and keep himself out of the hands of the Master of Darkness, his former guild, and a wizard seeking his power.

The Hawk and His Boy contains examples of:

  • Elemental Powers: The four elements here being Wind, Earth, Sea, and Fire.
    • Jute becomes a Blow You Away wind person, with the power to fly when he tries. Most the book though he's still learning his powers.
    • Levorath is the inital Earth, Dishing Out Dirt and spending time with horses as her signature animal.

  • Street Urchin: What Jute starts out as. He is somewhat taken care of by the Thieves Guild before the inital job of the story, but in essence he's basically this.

  • Non-Human Sidekick: The titular hawk of the story. He talks with Jute and helps him to survive and learn more about his powers.
