Two wars at once. Is survival still on the table for anyone?

Pity's Prelude is the first novel written by Creighton Halbert, published through Foundations Books.

The book splits the narrative between to protagonists: Stephen Bates and Titus Sirocco. Stephen signed up to be a sacrifice in a ritual to bring peace in a galactic war, but is starting to have second thoughts. Titus is a war hero forced to enter into politics to keep his country together. Add on top of that a Robot War/Civil War and Shapeshifters, and you have yourself a sc-fi novel.

A second book titled Origin Songs released in 2018, also through Foundations Books.

This book provides examples of:

  • Civil War: The premise of Titus Sirocco's side of the story. The Renati rebellion consists of disgruntled workers and claims to be the heralds of the old empire that used to control the planet - Mekkro. The Nasran Republic is the official government, attempting to maintain control of the colony despite the Renati's influence.
  • Hesitant Sacrifice: The premise of Stephen's side of the story.
  • Noodle Incident: When Stephen
  • The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized: And how! The Renati rebels have no qualms with practically crucifying a prisoner to get information from them, regardless if the prisoner is barely an adult.
  • Robot War: The Renati rebellion's robotic creations force this upon the Nasran Republic.
  • Sleazy Politician: Senator Ghent, most obviously. He is manipulating, condescending, and even worse, has a non-house-trained pet dog.
