Look out for Mr. Tod.

Peter Rabbit: A Winter's Tale is a piece of Children's Literature written by Beatrix Potter and is based on The Tale of Mr Tod. It's a Short Story about some disagreeable people, called Tommy Brock, and Mr. Tod. In it Peter Rabbit is sent out to collect some firewood only to quickly go off and play in the snow after meeting up with his cousin Benjamin. While playing though the two rabbits meet Mr. Brock who has a sack with something moving inside it, but think nothing of it until they discover that Mrs. Tittlemouse's babies are gone. It was first published in 2009, which suggests that the manuscript was found and published posthumously.

This book provides examples of:

  • Affably Evil: Though unpleasant he does warn Peter and Benjamin of Mr. Tod.
  • Bag of Kidnapping: Tommy Brock kidnapped Mrs. Tittlemouse's babies and had them in a sack.
  • The Dreaded: Much like in the other books Mr. Tod is this to the rabbits.
  • Evil vs. Evil: Tommy Brock and Mr. Tod both briefly get in a fight mistaking each other for Peter and Benjamin. Once they realize they aren't the rabbits though they stop and appear to make a truce due to the time and weather.
  • Friendly Enemy: Tommy Brock and Mr. Tod appear to be this or have become this after their fight sharing a glass of dandelion ale with each other.
  • Meaningful Name: 'Tod' is an antiquated British word for fox while 'brock' is an antiquated British word for badger; Mr. Tod and Tommy Brock are respectively a fox and a badger.
  • Predators Are Mean: Mr. Tod is unpleasant with the rabbits when he first meets them and later intends to attack them when he realizes they followed him to his den. The gamekeeper cat averts this though.
