Kane's Mountains is a Paranormal Romance series by T.S Joyce. It follows a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits who form a mining crew in the American wilderness, mostly because no existing group will accept them. At first the characters are wounded and distrustful, but as they work, grow, and fight together, they become a Family of Choice.
This series includes the following tropes:
- Badass Normal: Emma remains calm despite the attempts of shifters (her rivals for a spot on the crew) to intimidate her.
- Fire-Forged Friends: All of Apex's victims are strongly protective of each other, because they were each other's only source of comfort in the facility.
- Friends with Benefits: The default state of werelion prides. Most lions aren't emotionally or biologically monogamous, so sex is nothing more than a necessity of the lionesses' heat cycles.
