God Complex is an English-language prose serial in the tradition of the Japanese light novel. It is written and illustrated by the artist circle Name Pending Creations
. It follows the lives of several individuals from the viewpoint of a variety of gods from varying mythologies. The story begins fresh after a mix of Norse Mythology's Ragnarok and the Christian Apocalypse, and finds the many pantheons trying to recover after the loss of their families and the mortals that imbued them with their godlike power.
The novel is serialized online through Inkitt, Wattpad, and Royal Road (here). A fully dramatized audio drama is also available and currently covers the first chapter. It updates about once a month.
Tropes:
- All Myths Are True: From the first chapters alone, it's clear that figures like Jesus, Hera and Freya all exist in the same world. With the premise that sets up THE God as being dead and other pantheons vying for his position, it becomes clear that we'll see many gods from here on out.
- All There in the Manual: A CharaHubhas been set up to explore characters in much greater detail. It not only includes much more detailed explanations of their physical appearances and abilities, but also has questionnaires answered by the characters themselves, adding further context to all their decisions and motivations.
- Alternate Timeline: The original God Complex Webcomic is an alternate future, as told by the way of Throoth's future sight.
- Anyone Can Die: Jesus dies at the end of the first chapter, kicking off the actual story.
- Apocalypse How: The story picks up after some catastrophic event that has left the world void of mankind. Nobody has really explained what happened, but a being known as The Phantom Queen seemed to have been at the root of the problem.

- Big Eater: Ana mentions food quite a bit in her profile, and is noted for being one few goddesses who eat on a consistent basis.
- Blessed with Suck: Throoth is capable of seeing the future of anything in her line of sight. This means very little can surprise her, not even her friends who are doing their hardest to do just that.
- Blood Knight: Various characters are this, but Fea is among the more prominent examples.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: One of Fea's powers does this to Throoth in Chapter 3.
- Deadpan Snarker: Hel is this towards her coworkers and targets.
- Gods Need Prayer Badly: The story establishes that mankind is extinct early on, and many of the elder gods are scrambling to find alternative power sources. Gods proportionate power and rank among one another was determined by their real world worship counterparts, with Christianity having taken power once intended for other pantheons.
