The world of shifters is a secret one, filled with strife, politicking, and shark assassins. So a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits decided 'Fuck that', and became firefighters. Members of the East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, to be exact. Now "Alpha Team" strive to protect humanity- and their own independence- from the many factions who want to destroy either.
Fortunately, they are not alone.
Fire & Rescue Shifters is a Paranormal Romance series by Zoe Chant, the first entry releasing on June 4, 2016. Typically for the genre, each book follows a different couple- Dai/Virginia, Chase/Connie, Griffin/Hayley, John/Neridia, Hugh/Ivy, and Ash/Rose, respectively. In 2018 a sequel arc, which features different characters in the same universe, was announced.
- Big Good: Each element has one. Water is represented by the seadragon Pearl Empress, fire by the Phoenix Eternal, and earth by the Queen of Britain (a dragon shifter in the series' universe).
- Firemen Are Hot: Naturally, given the series' genre, the firefighters are all pretty attractive.
- Power Equals Rarity: 'Mythic' shifters (dragons, griffins, etc) are far rarer than mundane ones- sometimes even unique. For example, there's only ever one phoenix shifter, and he is a Person of Mass Destruction who could easily take on armies of werebears.
- Required Secondary Powers: Pegasi have excellent spatial awareness, which is convenient for a species built to go fast.
