Fatal Reunion is a 2016 book written by Jessica R Patch. It was published under the long running Love Inspired Suspense Line.

Piper Kennedy had a rough life in Memphis. After moving away to Jackson she tried to turn her life around and put it behind her. When she gets a call that her grandmother's house was robbed and her grandmother is in the hospital she races home. But when she gets there she finds her old boyfriend (and present Homicide detective) Luke Ransom waiting for her and old memories fly.

As it turns out there's a lot more to the past than either realized and it intensifies as mystery assailants keep targeting Piper's life.

Tropes included:

  • Bad Guy Bar: Riffs most of the time is this, even if it does try to serve as a normal bar. Most of the criminals and general troubled teens seem to end up there.
  • Clear My Name: Piper learns early someone is trying to frame her for several murders and works with the police to try and clear herself.
  • Close to Home: Luke Ransom is assigned a case that turns out to be heavily involved with his past undercover work and ex girlfriend.
  • Dirty Cop: Luke's older partner Kerr turns out to have been one all along and the main Big Bad of the story. Where he killed Chaz Michaels and made off with the valuable jewels he had stolen.
  • Disposing of a Body: Kerr Robbins disposed of Chaz's body by throwing it into the Mississippi River.
  • Faked Kidnapping: Harmony is revealed to have done this to try and play Piper.
  • Frame-Up: Boone Wiley attempts to frame Piper Kennedy for Tyson Baroni's murder. Then Kerr Robbins attempts to frame her for Boone Wiley's murder.
  • The Infiltration: Luke Ransom was an undercover officer when he met Piper Kennedy. He was working trying to bust Chaz Michaels' robbery ring.
  • Love at First Sight: Piper was smitten with Luke from the minute she saw him at Riffs. He had similar feelings.
  • The Main Characters Do Everything: Played with. Luke and his partner Eric are competent cops but Piper continues to assert herself into the investigation to find answers making this trope happen even though as it turns out the cops have in fact been doing equally as much work.
  • No "Police" Option: Harmony attempts to invoke this from Piper after the break-in. Piper goes agaisnt her wishes.
  • Posthumous Character: For most of the book we are lead to believe Chaz Michaels is the Big Bad who is out causing most of the problems. It turns out he had long since been dead shortly after the robbery that lead to Piper leaving Memphis.
  • The Rat: Piper worries Chaz and Sly see her as this because she was involved with the undercover cop. In reality she actually fed Luke false information out of fear what Chaz would have done if she really was this trope.
  • Undercover Cop Reveal: Played with, when chasing a suspect Piper uses "Freeze police" to try and stop the suspect giving the impression she is doing this trope. In reality, she isn't a cop. Undercover or otherwise.
