Exodus, UK is a novel by Richard Rohmer, a Canadian author who has extensive experience in the energy sector and applied that knowledge to his books of the 1970s and 1980s.

This book contains examples of:

  • Didn't See That Coming: The British government is caught absolutely flatfooted when OPEC countries collectively decide to yank all their money out of the UK financial system.
  • Sequel Hook: The last sentence in the book is purposely left unfinished, forcing the reader to wait until Separation or Separation Two.
  • Somebody Else's Problem: The response by the British government becomes a huge issue for Canada. In the book, the UK government sees the only solution in asking about ten million Britons to emigrate the country. Two million are slated for Canada. In the 1970s, the debate over Quebec separatism was much more intense than it is today; at the time, had a huge influx of English-speaking immigrants arrived to Canada within a few short years, the resulting demographic changes would have been seen by Quebec as extremely unfavorable and further evidence that they should become their own country.
