Escape From Castle Quarras was the third book in the Super Endless Quest series.
The reader controls Derek Shadowalker, a notorious thief, but only because he steals to help the downtrodden victims of the tyrannical regime ruling the kingdom. When one of his sources informs him of a powerful mystical gem being kept in the formidable Castle Quarras, he makes it his goal to break in and steal away the precious stone.
Escape From Castle Quarras provides examples of:
- Inventory Management Puzzle: Derek has a selection of items he can bring with him on his quest. Besides just having to guess what'll come in handy, the most useful things that can be chosen (like his sword or a rope and grapnel) take up a precious extra slot.
- Just Like Robin Hood: Derek's a thief, but only stealing from the cruel to help the innocent (presumably to stave off complaints from Moral Guardians).
- Luke Noun Verber: Derek Shadowalker, although it's unknown if that's his real name or a trade name he picked up from his thieving career.
- Mineral MacGuffin: The Gem of Illystia that Derek's sneaking into the castle to steal.
- Never Trust a Title: The book's adventure is in fact about doing the opposite from trying to escape from the castle.
