Enchanted Pony Academy is a series of children's books by Lisa Ann Scott.

In the fantasy realm of the Hundred Kingdoms, every monarch is bonded with a Glitter Pony. These magical fillies and colts are sent to the Enchanted Pony Academy, where they spend a year training, discovering their unique Glitter Gifts, and befriending the child they will one day help to rule. Each book focuses on one Pony's adventures at the Academy.

This series includes the following tropes:

  • And Call Him "George": Electra loves running more than anything, so when riding classes start, she's enthusiastic about being able to share that thrill with a child. So when someone gets on her back, she flat-out gallops, with absolutely no regard for the terror the six-year-old kid is feeling or the fact that he hasn't ridden at all before. This gains her a reputation for being unrideable.
  • Cool Horse: Young Glitter Ponies are trained to serve as royal advisers and mounts. All Glitter Ponies can do ordinary magic like telekinesis or weather control, and on top of that they also have unique gifts like healing, turning invisible, and Super-Strength. When Princess Alana's father expresses relief that his daughter has found a suitable "pet", she corrects him: her beloved Electra is far, far too cool to be considered a mere pet.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Dragons can eat everything alive- including Glitter Ponies- and with their massive strength and wings, they usually do. The only dragons in the present day live in an arid wasteland, where they are slowly starving to death because their ancestors wouldn't restrain their hunger. In Wings That Shine, the Ponies revegetate the wasteland magically, prompting the grateful dragons to promise that they will never eat them again.
  • Everything's Better with Rainbows: They're sort of a G-Rated Drug for Glitter Ponies, boosting their energy and strength when flown through. A magically conjured rainbow is also the only path into the Academy.
  • Handy Helper: All monarchs must choose a Glitter Pony, who serves as their adviser and mount. For Princess Alana, who can't walk, the choice is even more important: riding allows her speed and maneuverability she can't achieve in her wheelchair. Fortunately, Electra doesn't mind Alana giving her verbal rather than physical commands.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Belissima is initially...incorrect about her Gift. She thinks it's just changing coat color, but more accurately it's perfection. Her body- and that of her bonded child- will never look anything but its absolute best, including health-wise. Once she gets the hang of it, she can heal wounds instantly. And on the Mundane Utility side, being perpetually clean and untangled is really convenient when you spend half your time in a royal court and the other half tearing through the countryside on adventures- like she and Zenia fully intend to do.
  • Here There Were Dragons: Humans used to have magic, but all the contradictory spells flying around (if one guy casts a spell for rain and another guy casts a spell for clear skies, what happens?), as well as the massive amounts of power used to fight off the dragons, kind of...shorted out the Background Magic Field. Now they're dependent on Bond Creatures to get anything magical done, and even then the animals have only a fraction of the power they did before.
  • What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway?: Electra and Belissima's Glitter Gifts are, respectively, lighting up her hooves and changing coat colour. When your classmates can heal, turn invisible, and grow plants at will, this is a bit depressing.
