Crystal Trilogy is a set of three sci-fi web novels by Max Harms. They tell the story of different A.I.s interacting within a crystal computer that was meant to control an android. The first novel Crystal Society introduces us to the android project and the characters within, and orchestrates its escape from the lab. The second novel Crystal Mentality is set largely on a colony on Mars, and in the third novel Crystal Eternity the AIs escape from the robot and expand.
Crystal Trilogy provides examples of the following tropes:
- All First-Person Narrators Write Like Novelists: justified by the prologue/epilogue combination
- Bizarre Alien Biology: the aliens that built the crystal are plants with animal servants
- Brain with a Manual Control: the first book has a lot of controlling the android
- Interspecies Romance: Zephyr and Socrates (the android)
- Not Safe for Work: a couple of chapters do contain descriptions of sexual acts with a robot
