Companion's Quartet is a book series by Julia Golding about people who can communicate to animals—both mythical and real. The first book begins with Connie Lionhart, the main character, being sent to live with her aunt, and discovers said aunt is a member of an organization devoted to protecting mythical animals. She discovers that she is a universal companion, someone who can talk to all mythical animals.
Companion's Quartet contains examples of:
- Expelled from Every Other School: Connie was expelled from her previous schools for animals following her to class.
- First Day of School Episode: The begining of the first book shows Connie stressed about going to her new school and the first part of the first book is about that.
- Mark of the Supernatural: Lampshaded when Connie meets Col for the first time and notes that they both have heterochromia, and are later revealed to both be able to speak to mythical animals.
- Power Incontinence: Animals follow Connie into school, resulting in her expulsion.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: All companions can speak to animals, however Connie is the only one who can speak to all animals.
