Clear and Muddy Loss Of Love (Chinese: Jing Wei Qing Shang, 泾渭情殇) Also known as Two Adamant Hearts (Jing Wei Wu Jian) is a Queer Romance and Palace Intrigue novel by Please Do Not Laugh (Qing Jun Moxiao, 请君莫笑) published on the Chinese web novel website JJWXC. It began publication in December 2018 and was completed in May 2020.


Currently the only translation of this work is fanmade. An official translation is in the works awaiting release.

Clear and Muddy Loss Of Love contains examples of:

  • Arranged Marriage: The wedding between Qi Yan and Nangong Jingnu is arranged by Jingnu's father. As is the relationship between Nangong Shunu and Lu Zhongxing.
  • Cool Mask: Qiyan Agulas Shifu, The Masked Woman wears a mask to conceal her identity.
  • Coming Of Age Queer Romance: The relationship between Jingnu and Qi Yan is outwardly M/F. Throughout, Qi Yan struggles with her feelings for Jingnu and often Questions if a woman can be with another woman.
  • Crossdresser: Qiyan Agula poses as male twice over. Her parents claim she is their son to remain married to eachother. The Masked Woman helps her disguise as male to help her infiltrate the court on her path of revenge.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Qiyan Agulas family and ethnic group are the target of a genocide when she is eight years old.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: Qi Yan of Jin province did exist, but died in the plague of Jingjia first year. This is the fake identity Qiyan Agula uses.
  • Fake Relationship: For years, the relationship between Jingnu and Qi Yan is a false one.
  • First Love: Qi Yan and Jingnu are eachothers first and only love.
  • Gender Reveal: Qiyan Agula eventually reveals herself to be a woman.
  • Inconvenient Attraction: Qi Yan falls in love with Nangong Jingnu, despite not wanting to.
  • Indirect Kiss: Nangong Shunu and Nagsi Jiya share a cup during a banquet.
  • The Lost Lenore: Nangong Jingnu mourns Qi Yan who she believes to be dead.
  • Love Epiphany: Qi Yan eventually realizes she is in love with Jingnu.
  • Marriage Before Romance: Qi Yan and Jingnu get married before either develop feelings for eachother.
  • Masculine–Feminine Gay Couple: Qi Yan poses as a man for the entire book.
  • No Periods, Period: Qi Yan ingests a kind of poison that stops her from experiencing puberty. This is later cured, and she grows breasts but it is unclear if she experiences a menstrual cycle.
  • Official Couple: Qi Yan and Nangong Jingnu are married and in a romantic relationship. There is also a romantic relationship between Nangong Shunu and Qiyan Nomin.
  • Parental Favouritism: Nangong Jingnu is Nangong Rangs most favoured child.
  • Raised as the Opposite Gender: Qiyan Agula is raised as male.
  • Romantic Fake–Real Turn: The relationship between Jingnu and Qi Yan starts as fake until both parties develop feelings.
  • Romantic Ride Sharing: Qi Yan and Nangong Jingnu ride a horse together.
  • Sweet Polly Oliver: Qi Yan poses as male on her road to revenge.
