Literature / Blart: The Boy Who Didn't Want to Save the World

Go To

Blart is an ordinary farm boy. He does not care for adventure and would rather look after his grandfather's pigs. His entire life would change when a great wizard arrives and declares that Blart is the Chosen One and he must save the world. Blart simply refuses. To the boy's dismay, he is not given much of a choice as he is forced to be dragged along to his destiny. This book is written by Dominic Barker and published in 2006.

This book provides examples of:

  • Big Bad: Zoltab is an evil immortal god whom the cult of evil intends to summon.
  • Farm Boy: At the start of the story, Blart is shown tending to his grandfather's prized pigs. He shows absolutely no interest in the ultimate fate of the world.
  • Fiery Redhead: Princess Lois of Illyria has red hair, has fire-breathing dragons as friends and is extremely bad-tempered. Blart is often on the receiving end of her fury.
  • Refusal of the Call: Played straight. Even when tempted to own the largest pig farm in the world, it would mean doing someone a favour.
