The Gates Of Hell opened to show a sky that glowed orange and red. Waves of heat shimmered for miles distorting the view of the horizon. Burning embers and soot fell from the sky like grey snow, it covered everything in a gritty dust that got into everything. When mixed with moisture it formed a paste which was difficult to remove. It clogged unprotected lungs. The effects of the soot had filled hospital emergency rooms to overflowing; Code Black, with people coughing and in breathing distress. Every breath inhaled caused hacking and phlegmy coughs. The faces of the condemned were covered in dark soot, their faces showed the tracks of tears that ran down their faces, tears that flowed from their soot-filled eyes. The condemned lost everything they valued, they thought things couldn't get any worse when a roaring wall of living flame engulfed them.Their screams could be heard for miles.

America on Fire is a 2016 novel by Ira Tabankin.

After six months of inexplicable drought leaves America tinder-dry from coast to coast, ISIS, through criminal catspaws, starts thousands of wildfires which rage uncontrolled across the country, to anemic and confused response by the government which at first struggles to determine whether the fire are natural or set, and then who is attacking and how to respond.

Meanwhile, in Tennessee, ordinary family man (and survival prepper) Randy Thompson, struggles with his wife to survie.

America On Fire contains examples of:

  • Author Avatar: Randy Thompson sure does bear a striking similarity to Ira Tabankin, being a married, childless survival prepper living in the same county of Tennessee.
  • Insistent Terminology: Among ISIS, America is the Great Satan. So is Russia. Somehow, there is never confusion over which Satan is being spoken of at the moment.
  • Middle Eastern Terrorists: Given ISIS are the villains of the piece, yes.
