"Hello, everybody! It's your old pal Rz1 Dog here, and I'm joined by my good friend..."
"Delicious Taffy!"

Nero Nova is a Let's Player duo composed of Rz1 Dog and his friend Delicious Taffy. The two tend to do short plays of games, usually from the Xbox LIVE Indie Games catalogue. Rz1 Dog (aka RJ) tends to be more laidback and serious, while Taffy is prone to mood swings and emotional outbursts in the middle of gameplay, often in the form of threats to the characters' well-being.Their videos can be found on Rz1 Dog's channel, right here.

Games Played by Nero Nova:

Tropes that apply to them and their videos:

  • Angrish: During the Crash Course videos, Taffy is almost constantly in this mode, occasionally joined by RJ.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Taffy has it bad, switching from a semi-coherent dialogue to random singing, to threatening violence on the player character or, in one particular instance, Bruce Wayne's parents. Rz1 Dog does it as well, but far less frequently.
  • Catchphrase: "Hello, everybody! It's you're old pal Rz1 Dog, and I'm joined here by..."- RJ's standard opening, usually followed by Taffy introducing himself, but occasionally hijacked and corrupted.
    • RJ has "Please don't.", usually said after Taffy threatens to do something off-the-wall.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Taffy, full stop. Unless he finds something to focus on, he'll bounce between rambling about any little thing that pops into his head, Blatant Lies, and random bouts of singing that may or may not have anything to do with what RJ is trying to talk about.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Both commentators have shades of this, especially RJ.
  • Ear Rape: RJ will often start screaming when the gameplay gets harrowing. Some of the audio edits are also extremely loud, and tend to come out of nowhere.
    • During Moshe Romanson's turn in their Mount Your Friends video, a heavily-corrupted version of the Sonic X theme song blares a couple of times.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Taffy pulls this on himself every so often, such as when he references sex slavery in their Crash Course video, then immediately says it's not funny. Shortly after, he mentions being on the rebound after seeing the level's title, followed by silence from RJ.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: The titles of their Doritos Crash Course videos are in Spanish, for whatever reason.
  • Leitmotif: RJ has Heartful Cry, Aigis's theme from Persona 3: The Answer.
  • Nightmare Face: Tyrell Ilg, from Justin Bieber Concert Simulator, whose skull-like face distracts Taffy enough to lose him the entire game.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Taffy is the Red to RJ's Blue.
  • Running Gag: Taffy threatening to murder or otherwise violence someone, usually for very small reasons.
  • Schedule Slip: They tend to record videos in large chunks, in an attempt to avert this, but it never works out, leading to large gaps between videos.
  • Shout-Out: Absolutely everywhere, mostly in the form of a Non Sequitur from Taffy during moments of Sanity Slippage.
    • The title of their first Persona 4: Arena Ultimax video is "Hade Ni Ikuze", a reference to Captain Marvelous's catchphrase in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. Taffy makes several references to Super Sentai throughout the video, as well.
    • In their Crash Course videos, Taffy's Avatar is dressed as Captain America, while RJ's has on some items from Fable 3.
  • Straight Man: RJ. Although he has his moments of strangeness, his co-commentator's antics overshadow them by sheer volume.
  • Voice of the Legion: Taffy at one point during their Mount Your Friends video.

"Alright! Thank you guys for tuning in, and we will see you next time~."
