• March 15: The Tokyo Earthquake/Tokyo Twilight Disaster occurs. A series of supernatural phenomena ^note caused by a very powerful Grim Greed named the Twilight Apostle centered on Tokyo cause over 30,000 deaths. ^moreShiori is struck by rubble and dies in Kou's hands. In a desperate plea to remain with Kou, she inadvertently merges with the Twilight Apostle to create the illusion that Shiori is still alive. Asuka becomes orphaned when her parents die protecting her from the Greeds, and later takes her mother's Soul Device: Exerion Hearts, as a keepsake. Mitsuki's parents are killed in the disaster while on a business trip, marking the start of the Hokuto Group's involvement with the Eclipse and Zodiac. Rion becomes gravely injured and is bedridden at a hospital, and during surgery to save her life, she unknowingly merges with an Angel-type Grim Greed feeding off of her despair. Gorou's girlfrind Futaba is killed by the Greeds when he attempts to protect her from them with his newly obtained Soul Device; Arc Trinity, and fails.   • Renowned billionaire explorer Mark Hordstrom goes missing while climbing Mount Everest; an audio recording recovered shortly before he disappeared makes reference to something out in the blizzard picking off his team one by one before it rips open his tent and attacks him, too.   • The FBI Behavior Analysis Unit, consisting of Senior Agent Jason Gideon, Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner, Ellie Greenway, Derek Morgan, Dr. Spencer Reid, Jennifer Jareau, and Technichal Analyst Penelope Garcia, handle their first case as a team.   • Calypso hosts the 10th Twisted Metal tournament in the city of Los Angeles, destroying most of it during its course. Captain Carl Roberts, driver of Outlaw, is the winner and asks as his prize for a world free of Twisted Metal. Calypso complies...and sends him to space, to a world free of Twisted Metal...and everything else. (Twisted Metal)
• December: Sergeant Nicholas Angel is stabbed in the hand by a man in a Santa Claus suit. Nick Angel is given time off to recover. During this time, his girlfriend Janine leaves him, feeling he's unable to "switch off" his police officer mindset. (Hot Fuzz)

• The single universe created in the Crisis of 1985 is reshuffled, different universes becoming dominant in certain areas due to the actions of the heroes of the first event. The multiverse is reborn in miniature as fifty-two new universes are created. (DC Comics)
• Battle of Autobot City; Optimus Prime and Megatron are fatally wounded. The former dies, the latter is upgraded into Galvatron. • Atomic Robo and a team of Tesladyne Action Scientists encounters a cyborg-producing Helsingard complex beneath a village in Italy's Apennie Mountains (Atomic Robo)
• Marshall Ericksen and Lily Aldrin get engaged, prompting Ted Mosby to begin his (apparently interminable) search for true love. Shortly thereafter, he meets and falls in love with Robin Scherbatsky. (How I Met Your Mother)
• Terry Higgans fakes his death. (True Crime: New York City)
• The first Slasher incidents occur in Ikebukuro. (Durarara!!)
  • Anri Sonohara is physically abused by her father. Although this is not an uncommon occurrence, it causes her mother to snap and use the demon blade Saika to kill her husband and then herself, right before Anri's eyes. Saika then goes into Anri. (Durarara!!)
• In revenge for Terry's death Marcus Reed takes down all of New Yorks gangs looking for a mole in the NYPD finding out it's Terry Higgans before killing Terry in a fight on a train. (True Crime: New York City)
• Ramona Flowers dates her college roommate Roxie Richter at some point around this time. (Scott Pilgrim)
• ^{Series spoilers}A Japanese high school is rocked by a pair of murders. Two students, one male and one female, are both found dead, and a third who happened to be a close friend of both is missing. • The Replicators, under the command of a robotic version of Samantha Carter, invade the Milky Way and begin assimilating Goa'uld motherships, killing most of the remaining System Lords; they are finally destroyed by an Ancient superweapon on Dakara.
