Bakabon No Papa Goes to Indonesia is an action/adventure epic film based on the Tensai Bakabon franchise. It revolves around Bakabon no Papa, a coming-of-age Japanese man, realizing that he is getting tired of eating ramen noodles every single day and would like to enjoy another taste. After a long while spent contemplating, he decides to take a pilgrimage to Indonesia. On his journey, he meets many friends with which he decides to travel alongside. He learns many worthwhile lessons on his trip, mostly that kerak telor tastes very good.Originally written and produced in Japan as a promotion for Indonesian tourism, it has since been dubbed in Indonesian and done exceptionally well in the country. Although the Japanese and Indonesian tracks for the film have been long lost, an English dubbed version can be viewed here.
Bakabon No Papa Goes To Indonesia shows examples of:
- The Stinger - If one were lucky enough to stay after the credits in the theatrical release, they would be rewarded with a scene of Papa coming home to his wife and kids. They hug him excitedly at the door, and he unwraps kerak telor for his family to try. The scene is missing from all subsequent DVD releases, save for the Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Kerak telor becomes one for Bakabon No Papa.
- Travel Montage - This is Bakabon no Papa's preferred way to make it all the way to Indonesia from Japan.
